Sydney's Place — Restaurant in Preston

I want to PERSONALLY thank the owner for allowing my aunt to call in ahead of time to request that she have some PISTACHIO cheesecake slices available for when I came in on August 24 2024 from Southern California to visit. I was extremely grateful that she made some cheesecakes and had them out and available. It's the BEST I have EVER HAD.. Cheesecake Factory couldn't hold a candle to your PISTACHIO. It's most definitely one of a kind. The highlight of my trip these past few years when I visit my auntie Jo in Hyde Park Utah, to be able to come to Sydneys for this cheesecake 😋 just puts the BIGGEST smile on my face. I'm in my 50s now, and I shouldn't be going crazy over a delicious cheesecake like some little kid.. but I just can't help it. It's just too good not to have a slice.. it's perfection 👌🏽 to me. I hear they have many other great desserts as well, BUT I'm too stuck on your PISTACHIO cheesecake that I don't know if I'll ever get a chance to eat some of the others.. lol ha ha. The owner is just the sweetest lady and, in turn, was so gracious and appreciative that I loved her Pistachio so much that she thanked me for coming out when I was Thanking her for making this for me when I was in town this weekend. Just a really nice person. I genuinely love her place. It's nice and cozy and friendly and the food is great. I loved their chicken tenders, and of course, I got TOTS cause it's in Preston Idaho, and We all know Napoleon Dynamite loved eating his tots, so I went with the tradition 😂😂😂. Our waitress was a nice girl who took good care of my aunt and mother and myself. We were very happy with our service. My aunt loved the junior cheeseburger, and their fries 🍟 are simply delicious with a perfect crisp to them and some fry dipping sauce. All in all, it was another FANTASITC trip here. It didn't matter if last year you were in Mantua Utah and this year Preston Idaho.. I wasn't gonna let anything stop me from coming back for another wonderful slice of heaven in their delicious PISTACHIO cheesecake. Thanks again from the bottom of my heart ❤️ for the awesome experience and for taking the time to stop by our table and talk with us and listen and laugh and smile. Cause your cheesecake definitely puts a big smile on my face every time I take a bite... Forever a fan...

Went out with the family on a Friday night. It was pretty packed and I was told the wait time was 30 minutes. I was pleased when it ended up being significantly less time than that.

The atmosphere is good; friendly staff, nice theme, and welcoming feeling.

The staff was great. They don't have any kids drinks besides soda (or at least, those were the only options given), but the one lady offered to make chocolate milk for my kids, which was an awesome offer. The waitress was great, helpful, and quick and efficient.

The food was kind of a mixed reaction. They ran out of corn dogs for the kiddos which is frustrating since it was early on a Friday night. The kids ended up getting a grilled cheese which was generic and not worth the $8, although the fries were good.

My wife got the Reuben which was excellent. It's nice to have a place in town that has a good one now. She got onion rings which were also good.

I decided to try the steak, which ended up being disappointing. The salad that comes with it is small, but a good mix of veggies; spinach, romaine lettuce, tomatoes, carrot, and cucumbers. The mashed potatoes were delicious as was the gravy. The steak, however, was lacking. While it was cooked excellently (medium rare/medium), it was lacking anything baring a passing resemblance to seasoning. No sauce, no seasoning, not even pepper. It was a tender hunk of cooked meat and tasted exactly like it. Definitely not a $30 steak.

We likely try here again later, but next time I'll get a sandwich...

Sydney's is a restaurant that I've had the pleasure of visiting twice now, and both experiences have been quite satisfying. The food consistently impresses with its quality and flavor, making it a reliable choice for a satisfying meal. However, on both occasions, I couldn't help but notice that the prices seemed a tad higher than what I would typically expect for this area. While the dishes are undoubtedly delicious, the slightly elevated prices might deter some diners who are more budget-conscious.
