Incredibly impressed during a visit on a Saturday evening. Family run, there is an obvious love and care that goes into the food and service. Try this place out.
Food-
Fed Hill Calamari: The freshest fried calamari I can remember having. The sweet Asian chili sauce fit perfectly
Chicken Parmigiano: My favorite in the Atwells Ave area; large portion and tasty sauce
Chicken Marsala: Best I've ever had, although I don't order it frequently. Again, you can feel the love in the dish, and the portions are great.
Henny on the Hill: Fiancée, who doesn't drink much, ordered a second.
Service-
Waitress: Attentive, great recommendations, and an amiable personality. (I believe her name was Alicia or Allie)
Owner: The gentleman is certainly passionate about his job, and we felt it. He checked on us and other tables without feeling intrusive. At one point, a couple behind us had an issue with their bill and looked legitimately upset. The owner came over to resolve their issue, and they left much, much happier.
Overall Experience: Newer restaurants tend to be amazing or extremely disappointing; I'm happy to report this was on the amazing side. Having had a bad day, we came on a whim, and we will be back. Thank you for the great dinner,...
Read moreWe came here for dinner on a Saturday evening.
We ordered tres mofunguitos. The plantains and all the fillings were very tasty. The guacamole was great! I would enjoy again. As for entrees we got the beef bolognese and the linguini with clams. I think I ordered the wrong thing with the linguini because it tasted like boiled pasta with steamed clams. I have a feeling that dish would be similar elsewhere as well. The beef bolognese was flavorful and the portions were large.
The service was excellent and everyone was welcoming.
As for the atmosphere, I think there could be improvements. The decoration seems like whatever things were popular online kind of slapped together. They have the Mona Lisa/renaissance Italian thing going but then throw some random club type decoration that clashes. There could be some refining to elevate this place just a touch.
Overall I’m not sure of the menu, it’s Italian with some Latin elements in there. I think there could be some creativity with the menu if they want to become more of a fusion spot. That was the reason we came here but most of the dishes they serve are typical Italian/Italian American which there are so many options for on...
Read moreFood: we didn’t get to try pasta as we wanted something quick to have but we did try the calamari and one of their sushi rolls. It’s pretty drenched in sauce, so there’s a lot of flavor to unpack. It’s a lot of sweet chili and it’s overall savory and sweet. I think it would be better if they ease off the sauce just a little bit and let the natural flavors come through.
Service: our server was very quick to get everything settled for us to have our meal
Ambiance: it’s a lot smaller inside with nice modern Renaissance artwork. The entire lighting is all red, but I don’t think it’s truly fitting to the restaurant vibe. It kinda almost feels like you’re in a club. Personally I think if they found more classic artwork to add more touch to the restaurant, I think that would help it bring that vibe of “Mona Lisa.”
Location accommodation: it’s nearby Federal Hill, and there is parking on the side of...
