What an excellent Pizzeria! My wife, then fiancee, tried bringing me here a few years ago during a visit to Rhode Island on a Monday and they were closed. We finally got here dur to my driving along Route 10 to work and spotting thir sign on the back of the building.
So here we are, I took a quick look at the menu and started to order a pizza with pineapple, green pepper, bacon, pepperoni, onion. Oops! Wait a minute...... they don't do that. Caserta has five toppings only for thir pizza. You might say, "what kind of pizza place does that?" I certainly did but decided to stay and try the pizza anyway. Cheese, Pepperoni, Mushrooms, Olives, Anchovies that's it. So we order a large with the first 3 toppings. We sat for a while and then the moment arrived. All I can say is WHAT A PIE!!! So fresh were the ingredients from the crust through the sauce, cheese, pepperoni to that mushroom...... wow! We added what appeared to be fresh red pepper flakes and that just blew the roof off the building.
While we ate a gentleman came by who in speaking with discovered he is the the owner. Joe is quite a nice guy. He explained how they grate 3000 lbs of cheese for their pizzas. I told how I tried to visit here some years ago from Bermuda and he told me they are closed on Monday's in order to clean the kitchen thoroughly. He also informed me how he'd visited my home country of some 17 times. Small world. Anyway as we got ready to go we purchased some pizza dough and Joe threw in some of the red pepper flakes.
Folks if you really want the original experience stop by Caserta Pizzeria, 121 Spruce Street Providence, RI 02903. You won't regret it! Don't forget Monday's the...
Read moreIt's the best pizza ever! This is the pizza every other one is compared to!! The dough is thick and cooked to perfection. The sauce has just the right combination of sweet and tangy. One thing to remember- that this is authentic Italian pizza, so "plain" means dough and sauce only with no cheese! If you want cheese, order a cheese pizza! But don't stop there. The toppings will add to the flavor and make the best pizza even better! The atmosphere is utilitarian- order at the counter and find a formica-topped table. There are many tables, but at busy times, they may be filled, and you may need to wait a bit. You will find your fellow pizza-lovers are overall friendly and will be happy to tell you all about their first Caserta experience when grandpa took them there! It's a family place, so there may be the occasional cranky child wanting another bite of a Wimpy Skippy! You can order "take and bake" pizza that you can finish at home, and buy their pizza dough and tomato sauce to bring home. But why do the work when Caserta will bake...

Even leaving New England for 20 years( relocated to FL) I always got to get a pizza when I stayed up here During tIf you take pride inIf you take pride in whatIf you take pride in what youhe holidays. Tonight I figured I turn my neighbor on to hem...bad idea. The large pizza isn't even close to what I've been use to over the many years. Totally disappointed the dough wasn't as fluffy Like it used to be it was dense the sauce was basically no flavor to it and I'm usually one to get cheese Or pepperoni pizzas I had a half and half tonight and it was totally disappointing I get it I know that we're going through a pandemic but Quality should never go down Especially with a longstanding company that's...
