We called ahead to make a reservation and was told they don't take reservations over the phone but weren't informed that we could make a reservation online. We arrived, and as we were talking to the host, a young lady mentioned to the host that she had a reservation and they were seated. I informed her that we were told they were not taking reservations, and it was a 1st come. She explained that they take phone reservations, I asked why didn't they tell us when we called to make a reservation and she said she didn't know but would put our name on the which only had 2 names ahead of us 1 for 4 people and 1 for 3 people. After 1 hour, we spoke to the host, who said it should be another 20 minutes. They were waiting for a group of 4 to leave so they could accommodate our group. I went inside, and after a few minutes, the area the host said she was preparing for us began to get filled with people being seated. I asked the host why are they seating people in the area she had for our group and her response was mind blowing 🤯 she said that she can't hold tables if she has people who come and want to be seated. I asked about our group and what she said to us about preparing a section and waiting for the last table to clear out which wouldn'tbe long because they were done eating, and she stated again that she can not hold tables for a large group when she has others to sit. At this point, the sun was going down, temperature a bit lower. The outdoor tables were open, but it was too windy to eat outside, so we left. Parking is minimal unless you park in 1 of the businesses that charge $20 - total $120 wated in parking and couldn’t eat 👎👎👎👎👎 Why have a list if you are not going to follow it!! The Host was EXTREMELY OVERWHELMED and COULDN'T KEEP UP with the foot traffic. If you tell your potential customers a certain time frame, you should honor it and make them wait 2-3 times longer and give excuses or try to make it their fault or problem. Looks like a cool place, and food smelled good but was NOT able to experience it due to the process and host not being organized and poor communication!! If I visit the area again, I will eat at 1 of the Italian restaurants, which is hard to say, being Puerto Rican 🇵🇷 but knowing what day it was - Mother's Day things should've been running better. This second time, we asked for water and were brought bottled water, we asked for tap since I know they would charge $5 for the bottle, the waiter didn’t seem pleased. I would’ve preferred being offered an option for bottled water. I asked for a passion fruit juice, though delicious it came in a tiny glass… for $7 really? I didn’t order a cocktail. We never got a refilled on our tap water, took awhile for a server to come to our table the first time and after the water situation. I asked for a side of mayo and ketchup for my fries and the food runner never brought it. I asked the server and I got mayo-ketchup, which is not the same. The burger I ordered was dry and bland, it only had cheese in it and the “chimichurri” sauce was on the side. That sauce did not taste like chimicurri, it’s like they used limes instead of vinegar. My bread fell apart, I had to cut my burger. Never offered dessert, they were ready to have us pay.
We asked for a split bill and instead of going to see what she can do she just came back with the whole tab.
We had to sit inside because people were smoking hookah inside and in the middle section which I thought would be hookah-free but I was wrong. The music was soo loud for a Sunday afternoon.
Also gratuity of 15% is automatically included. This wasn’t a party of 6 or 8 people. I understand a Spanish restaurant on Broad St you may want to add gratuity because those customers don’t know how to tip but this is Federal Hill.
