I'll start out by saying I've never written a restaurant review before, but feel compelled to do so now, because Piemonte is the best pizza I have had in two years of searching in Providence. I live up the street from this place, and will admit I've been reluctant to try it. The location doesn't let on that it would be as good as it is, and they opened up about a year ago, replacing a business that was your average "we don't care" kind of restaurant. I moved to Providence from Brooklyn, and I've also lived in Italy, and as silly as it sounds, I'm pretty serious about pizza. I've driven by Piemonte tons of times and tonight finally decided to try it. I had read a couple of good reviews, a couple of so-so reviews, but I figured it was time to give it a shot. I walked in with my daughter, and the owner John and his wife were just so absolutely lovely to both of us. Very warm, and very friendly. The window is lined with plants, which to me was a highly visible sign that this was better than it first appeared. Real plants, and they even turned out to be their own fresh herbs that they use in the kitchen. I got a plain pie and a margarita pie, because to me that's how you tell if a place is really worth it's salt. I'll tell you, they were hands down the tastiest pizzas I've had since moving out of NYC, and I have been searching since I moved here. Who would have imagined that it was right under my nose this whole time.
In an effort to be more than just gushing, I will say that one of the things that kept me from checking it out sooner was the harsh fluorescent lighting inside. It doesn't broadcast the right message about how good the food is here. But the plants soften the effect somewhat, and the warmth of the owners more than makes up for the weird lighting.
I hope I've said enough to convince anyone who may have had their doubts, because this is exactly the kind of business that should be thriving in Providence. I know I'll be back very soon! (By the way, my boys loved it too. And pleasing a 10- and 8-yr-old is no...
Read moreThe manager or owner, whoever thinks he runs the place needs a real attitude check. Especially with potential customers. Usually based off my experiences on doordash, I decide whether or not I would like to eat at a particular resturant. & my experience here was nothing but bad! I walked in to pick up 1 order, & then I received a 2nd order. So I let the staff know I was here for 2 seperate orders. They asked me whether I would like to wait for the 2nd one in 10-15 mins to be done, I said I would take them Both at the same time so it wouldn’t get cold waiting in my car. Then older guy proceeds to come at me very firmly saying that if I don’t pick up one & deliver & come back for the other he won’t give me any of the orders. Which now I am highly upset because he’s messing with my time & money. If doordash gives yu a batch order, both orders must be confirmed & picked up before proceeding with the delivery to even receive the addresses of these orders. So after doordash gave them a little call, that person no longer had anything to say to me in English, continued to speak in his foreign language to his peers & completely ignored me. The cashier was understanding & allowed me to wait for both orders so they would be delivered hot & wouldn’t affect their buisness. But that managers behavior was unacceptable & if he does not understand the rules of the platform he is delivering thru then he does not need to be on it period. Lesson...
Read moreI just wanted to express the great experience I had today with Piemonte pizza. I was running around on lunch to get me, the girlfriend and four kids lunch during my busy work schedule. I ordered 2 medium pizzas and chicken fingers with fries to drop it off to them in Pawtucket. When I got to the house there were no French fries normally I wouldn't care but one of our kids is extremely picky and we didn't have enough chicken to go around. I called and spoke with the manager on. At first we had some disagreement with how much he charged us for the food especially the sauces. But we were both able to come to an agreement and he asked if he could get a driver to come all the way out to the house which is about an 18min drive with chicken and fries to make up for it. I am extremely happy with how this interaction went since we thought as adults the pizza was some of the best around. I would recommend not just the food but also would recommend because of ownership and management. Sometimes it's the small things in life that help us smile and you guys got my little one to smile today with bringing French fries....
