Dinner for 2, 1st & last time!.
We had a reservation for 6:30pm, we arrived at 6:25pm, we were greeted by the hostess & were told "you gotta wait a few minutes". I didn't think anything bad & said ok, we were 5 minutes early. We waited, standing in a 3 feet wide hallway by the entrance for 15 minutes. They sat us down in the farend corner behind the bar. Unfortunately, we got a white waitress with a bad lef knee who seemed like she was on something. It took 15mnts for the waitress to acknowledge us & ask for something to drink. We ordered drinks, the drinks took another 15mnts to arrive. Waitress dropped off drinks, then she decided to come around 30mnts later to ask for our order. We ordered 1 appetizer & the main course that comes with 2 sides, 30mnts later the waitress comes to our table & blames the kitchen stating "the front kitchen didn't relay our entire order to the back kitchen", whatever that means. 20mnts later our appetizer arrives, mind you we're sharing our appetizer & our main course(no additional clean plates were brought/offerd to share), 15mnts later the waitress brings 1 of the main course sides(onion soup). 15mnts later, our 2nd side arrives (salad). At 8:30pm(2 hours later since we sat down)our main course arrived(prime rib with baked potato), we finished our main course in 20mnts & wanted to order desert but of course our waitress was nowhere to be found.
Finally, the hostess walked by our table to pick up our main course plates & we asked if we could order desert with her, to which she said, of course. We ordered desert & coffee, in 5mnts later, our lost waitress appeared with our desert/coffees.
When the waitress brought our desert/coffes, she made a comment " Boy, I leave for a split second & you guys order desert with the boss(hostess)"?! We looked at each other & we made eye contact like saying she has to be kidding, right?.
Anyways, we finished our last course in 15mnts, but before we finished our lost waitress slipped our bill on our table without us asking for it, nor did she bother to ask us if we wanted/needed anything else. We left our credit card on top of the bill & 5mnts later, our waitress appears again & without saying a word, takes the bill/credit card & walks away. 3mnt later, she comes back with the bill/receipt paid.
The food was mediocre for the high pices & small portions!
The prime Rib was very chewy.
The place is small, very tight & very loud.
This is a local neighborhood bar/restaurant where locals frequent.
The front hostess was polite when we arrived but rude at the same time. When we were waiting for our table in the 3 feet wide hallway were people & staff kept passing by, the host told my wife "could you move a bit, I need to get people out of here".
We were standing in front of a small closet entrance in the hallway & she had us move to the side to retrieve a folded walker on wheels from the closet for a customer.
She could have said, "Excuse me rather than move!,
Anyway, I'm positive the waitress we got is costing this business a lot of money!
I say this because we won't return there.
In a business, 1st impressions set the tone for the overall customer service experience & in our 1st visit, they failed...
Read moreIt is with a mix of disappointment and frustration that I recount my recent visit to the Golden Steer Steakhouse in Las Vegas. While the majority of our dining experience was pleasant, one particular incident managed to overshadow the entire evening. Brace yourself for a tale of triviality gone awry.
Two months ago, my family and I decided to treat ourselves to an evening at the Golden Steer Steakhouse, attracted by its reputation for exquisite food and elegant ambiance. As we settled into our seats, little did I know that a single leaf of lettuce would cast a dark cloud over what should have been a joyous occasion.
In preparation for our tableside salad, a waiter approached with a flair for theatrics. Eager to impress, he vigorously tossed the salad, aiming for a spectacular display of culinary prowess. However, in the midst of his enthusiasm, a stray piece of lettuce managed to escape the confines of the bowl, making an unintended landing on my brand new Kenneth Cole purse – a Mother's Day gift from my loving husband.
While some might consider this a minor mishap, it unexpectedly rattled me. The leaf's contact with my purse sent waves of concern coursing through my veins. I couldn't help but envision irreversible damage inflicted upon my precious accessory. Though it may seem trivial to some, the emotional impact on my well-being was undeniable. Sleep evaded me that night, as I grappled with the aftermath of the lettuce encounter.
To be fair, the Golden Steer Steakhouse did deliver on certain aspects. The food, for the most part, was indeed delightful and expertly prepared. The menu boasted a variety of mouthwatering steak cuts, each cooked to perfection and accompanied by tantalizing flavors. The waitstaff, with their attentive and professional demeanor, contributed to the overall ambiance of the restaurant.
However, it is regrettable that the inadvertent lettuce incident cast a shadow over my dining experience. It is a shame that the restaurant's overall charm was marred by such a trivial mishap. I had hoped for an unforgettable evening, but instead, my memories are tinged with a sense of disappointment and frustration.
While I acknowledge that accidents happen in even the finest establishments, it is disheartening that the Golden Steer Steakhouse failed to rectify the situation or offer any form of compensation for the distress caused. Perhaps my expectations were too high, and I should have approached the incident with a more forgiving mindset. However, the disappointment lingers, and it is only fair to share my experience with others.
In conclusion, while the Golden Steer Steakhouse does possess elements that may appeal to some diners, I cannot help but feel dissatisfied due to the unfortunate lettuce mishap. As potential patrons, I urge you to consider this review as a cautionary tale and approach your dining experience with tempered...
Read moreWe visited Elba's because it was recommended on places like Reddit and locals, saying good things about the steak and French onion soup. Four friends all trying something different, and we all agree that the French onion soup is absolutely delicious. Very flavorful, and the cheese was good quality.
However, the steaks were SEVERELY disappointing. I had the sirloin, and it was pretty standard for sirloin but underseasoned (fixed with sauce.) Wife had the strip steak and it was tender but, again, underseasoned. Friend 1 had the steak burger and it was overcooked and dry, returned and received better but was still greatly underseasoned. Friend 2 ordered the surf and turf (filet mignon and lobster) and it was so underseasoned and badly cooked that she only had two bites. $120 for 2 bites of steak and some vegetables.
On the filet, it was burned on the crust and had zero seasoning, not even a hint of salt or pepper. The lobster was decent, nice flavor but that's the only saving grace. But the price was outrageous. We understood it was a local family-style restaurant, and the dinner option (comes with soup, salad, and potato) was fairly decent, but the quality and taste of the steak did not live up to the recommendation we received for the place.
We really wanted to enjoy the place, I personally love local eats like this; but I cannot in good conscience give this place any higher than a 2 for overall rating. The only reason its a 2 and not a 1 is because of the French onion soup, which was admittedly one of the best I've tasted throughout the US and Canada. And the service was impeccable and very charming. Just, the steak, we can't get over how overpriced, underseasoned, sloppy, and not-worth-the-digestion it was. Do not recommend, go to a chain restaurant and get some semblance of quality and seasoning, all for a...
