IHOP — Restaurant in Proviso Township

I was very, very disappointed with my experience today. A waitress by the name of Monique really messed up my anniversary morning! I rarely eat sweets like pancakes because I am a diabetic. But the wife wanted only international house of pancakes. The day started with seeing this waitress outside smoking outside the restraunt smoking a cigarette. A big turn off since we don't smoke. She then walked in with us and then took our order. She had no name tag on. She, gave absolutely, no greeting or salutations. So, how did I know her name was Monique? Well, she was extremely kind and helpful to the guest in the booth behind us as we overheard their conversation. Throughout our morning breakfast, she NEVER not once stopped and ask how were we doing, or gave more coffee. Only when I asked her for more she came. She even, slammed the small coffee on the table, with no words spoken at all! I had to call her again to ask for more napkins and butter. She took forever to bring our butter and by then, if the pancakes were cold and could not melt as they we cold as TWO ICE CUBE BALLS. That's when I asked for our check, and she said" is everything ok". We left. I called and spoke to a manager from the car. She was sorry and offered a free "side" of pancakes with our next visit. I declined to give our name for the pancakes and simply stated that she have a nice day. We could not understand why our visit went so bad, the restraunt was...

So we arrived at 8am and were seated by a nice young guy.. At the time ourselves and 4 other customers were the only ones in the establishment. So we did what normal families do and exchanged small talk for several moments waiting to be waited on. About 15 minutes passed and no one showed to wait on us so we figured ok well maybe they are still new (opened June 19, 2017) so we waited even longer. 30 minutes passed and no one came so we sat there watching others be waited on and served food [people who had clearly come after us] were seated, served, and paid for their meals with such ease while we sat and waited while also watching severel servers walk around us not asking if we had been helped yet... after about 45minutes we finally were able to speak with a manager (after the guy who seated us told us they had no manager) who provided us drinks and a waitress that was great by the name of Maria. She was very nice and attentive. When the food arrived the pancakes and waffles were on the cold side and this was corrected immediately.. Time for the check and not even the bare minimum of 10% was taken off the bill we had to ask for our drinks to be taken off for the inconvenience and the long unnecessary wait. After asking for a discount they provided us with 20% off our bill. If you don't mind a wait then please go the food was great when hot and restrooms were clean and decor was the same as any other...

Different atmosphere being in a smaller location, let alone in a strip mall area, but it was nice inside. Food was good as always, but our server was actually very bad. Me and my husband met my daughter for a late breakfast, at 2pm, lol. We were seated while waiting for you, I order 2 coffees and a chocolate milk. It took almost 15 minutes to receive our drinks. After my daughter arrived we put in our order, my daughter ordered a coke. Not one time after our food was delivered did the server ever come back to refill our coffee or even the fountain drink. I was a server for over 20 years, so I'm not to keen on being ignored. The restaurant was not busy, there were 3 servers, and we aren't needy customers, but to not be checked on and then just brought our check and asked if we needed boxes just doesn't sit right with me. Maybe she was having a bad day, but her demeanor seemed fine, she just kinda seemed lazy and aloof with being there. Not sure if I'll go back to this location or not, but I will keep going to the locations I know have better service that this. We tend to go to ihop a couple times a month. Sad this experience was like this cause it conveniently located close to my daughter's home. Just have to check out other restaurants in the area for a better...
