Las Islitas Stone Park — Restaurant in Proviso Township

This place has really gone downhill. I haven't been here in 5 years and I used to tell people to come here. Man I feel bad telling them after coming back here recently.

I ordered the langastinos. The shrimp were old and dry. You wouldn't think that as this place should always be cooking this type of dish. Also, you can see in one of the pics that many of the shrimp had white on the shell especially around the head.

The sauce was all oily and started to separate as I was eating. I don't think they used real butter, also all the seasoning must have been dry powders. There were no bits of garlic at all in this dish. I didn't even want to use the bread to get the extra sauce.

My wife ordered the shrimp cocktail with octopus. It was all cocktail sauce and hardly any shrimp or octopus. There was nothing in the cocktail sauce but a small piece of onion maybe. It was so bland she was looking for salt but there was none on the table.

The server and service was fine, just the food was poor quality and definitely not fresh for a place that specializes in seafood. Last time for me here, big...

The food is pretty good…. I got the red snapper, that comes with rice and salad. The pico de galo was seasoned very well, but the guacamole was mostly tomatoes with very little actual avocado. The main complaint I have is the service, the restaurant was fully staffed with waitress, and bus-servers…but it took 10 minutes for us to get a water. When the waitress came over she was Spanish speaking only, and I speak English. Instead of her asking her coworkers to simply switch tables with her since she didn’t understand English, she made us suffer through 15 extra minutes of her trying to figure out what we were trying to order and playing at the kiosk to input the order. STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS PLACE UNLESS YOU WANT TO GET DEATHLY ILL...we went here on a Sunday afternoon and ordered a shrimp dinner. After about a half hour, we both , my wife and I , became seriously ill with fevers and the runs. So grave was our condition , we were treated at a hospital for what they termed a "a foodborne sickness", or , food poisioning from what whatever we just ate. There food probably seats around in open containers and gets contaminated with toxins and bateria , resulting in food poisoning which can be lethal. As you read previous reviews, other have found live bugs swimming in their soups. I am reporting this establishment to the Board Of Health for them to have this place closed and throughly inspected for any health code violations.
