Every year it is mine and my families pleasure to make a special trip to Gagliano’s as we all love the food as much as the people. Today however, I should have known to call ahead with everything that has been going on with COVID, and drove with excitement to get to Gagliano’s instead to find out I needed to call ahead. The lady(I sadly do not remember her name) was very kind. We traveled a long way to experience what we love about Gagliano’s, but would have to wait an hour. Not long I suppose, but we were in a hurry to get home as we had been driving for hours. We apologized for not realizing that we should have probably called and promised our return. Instead, the lady on the phone said she would do her best to produce what we were asking for, and not 5 minutes later, she came out with our order with what I assume was a smile under mask! Read moreI deliberately went out of my way to get a sandwich here. I walked into the family run establishment and was overwhelmed by the familiar odors, great ones, of an Italian deli. The sandwich was great but that’s not the real story here. It’s a family run business and they’re known for their sausages. While I was waiting for my sandwich the elderly woman, the original 'Nona', looked over at me across the counter, and asked me if I wanted to taste the meatballs that she just made. Now she’s holding the meatball for me to taste in the clean deli wrap paper and she’s pushing it over the counter at me. When I told her I don’t eat meat she gave me that look of bewilderment, then endearment; then without hesitation, she said: "Well I have some vegetable soup I just made!
