Wow! We were driving through town and looking for a place to eat, and my husband found this deli just off the main drag. We were so surprised when we walked in! Homemade bread, local cheeses, all kinds of great stuff in the fridge and pantry aisles!
We each ordered sandwiches and dined in. I ended up ordering a Ruben sandwich without the roast beef because I don’t eat meat. They also had a salad which I could’ve ordered without the meat as an option. I could have “built my own” sandwich too. This is a counter service establishment with a small seating area with 10 or so tables-but it’s also a specialty market with select gift items.
Everybody that worked there was very friendly. It was a good mix of healthy food and essentials. We also bought a loaf of homemade sourdough bread, kombucha, local green chili goat cheese and red and purple popping corn. If you have kids, I’m sure they would love perusing all of the candy as well! They had baked sweets and things like banana bread too.
This is the perfect stop if you’re on vacation and you need to eat and pick up supplies for the road, as there’s a Starbucks next-door and a Walmart...
Read moreThe atmosphere isn't what one would typically expect, however, that is not negative criticism. The term Southwest has been associated with the saloons of the rough and tough cowboy and ranching. But what Hollywood tends to skip over is the hospitality. Immediately I was greeted by a gospel sound track that added a unique quirk to my experience. The prices reflected fair value for my dollar and the cashier (Who I can only assume was the owner) was very pleasent. The store is very clean, but has warm sensibilities. There are various sauces for sale as well as packaged foods like candied fruit and pie filling. The store baked bread broke apart with freshness as I enjoyed my Rancher's delight sandwich. I thoroughly enjoyed my lunch here.
If you want a little more wholesome experience, ditch the Subway and Jimmy Johns and support Southwest...
Read moreLiterally a hole-in-the-wall cafe in a strip mall, but wow! Great, great sandwiches and homemade baked goods, and a nice deli with excellent lunch meats and cheeses and homemade bread for sale. It's one of those places you discover because someone else has eaten there and recommends it, and you walk in skeptical because it's got a pretty small area for eating-in, but once you get your food, you're hooked! You go back and take friends there to try it and aren't surprised at all when they love it too. They also serve breakfast, I think, because there are breakfast burritos on the menu, and although I haven't tried them, they sound (and I'm sure they are) so delicious as well. Oh, and there are pastries for dessert, and I have tried...
