This was a great place to eat until we were served by Megan. We go to this place because it does have (A great+++) one of a kind food and relaxing atmosphere. Apparently Megan likes to hear herself speak (very loud) and also is too important for customers to finish talking before being rudely interrupted. My 5 year old has more manners. I ordered 2 items and both with no fries or tater tots and she apparently wanted me to still have them on my plates because they were free, but how are they free when I have to pay, this one was a memory for me. Well Megan this same place ( and about every other place in the world) where you did not offer me a customer a happy alternative was given to me as an option before at that very same restaurant over and over again , you were wrong to say that at your age and to try to treat anyone like that. You are there to serve that owner and the guest and nothing else with a smile. I will make sure to sit as far from you as possible next time if we go back. This is close to the very worst experience I have ever had in a restaurant and my guest felt the same way. The bartender ( I do not drink but my guest does ) was very very very very nice and super well mannered. Megan also went out of her way to be rude to everyone who could hear her loud voice. She actually told the lady and man at the table behind us when ordering Ladies first. Who in there adult mind would say that to a couple trying to enjoy a Christmas meal. I am not leaving this feedback ON THE FOOD BECAUSE IT IS PROBABLY the best there is around here for sure. Also Megan I did not like the fact I ordered food with red on the inside and you served it well cooked. I did not trust you enough to get it right without taking stuff emotionally personal so I ate it burnt. You did not ask how the meal was or ask if we wanted dessert but instead asked if we were ready because I was finished but did not even care of my guest to ask if they wanted desert. I now he did but e drove to...
Read moreWe attempted to go here for dinner. It was a busy night and we were told it'd be a 25 minute wait so we put our names in and got a drink at the bar. After about 35 minutes we went to check in with the hostess and were told we were second on the list. Another 35 minutes passed and after seeing multiple new groups get seated ahead of us I went to talk to the hostess again. She informed us that she looked for us at the bar (even though she obviously didn't) and couldn't find us so she skipped us on the list. We were told we'd be seated next. Ok. After another 20 minutes of not being seated I went to the hostess for a 3rd time and asked to talk to her manager. After much back and forth she finally went to the manager. I told her we were no longer interested in being seated and felt the least they could do was have our two drinks comped. She informed us she could not do that but said she would speak with the owner. The owner came over and made a backhanded comment that he couldn't comp our 5 drinks. I told him politely we'd only has 2 drinks at which point he very unapologetically told us that the best he could do was 10% off our two drinks.
In short - after incorrectly being passed over multiple times and waiting over an hour longer than anyone else walking in the door, the owner told us that our time and troubles was only worth roughly a $1.50 discount to him.
It's apparent the customer experience is not important at this establishment.
Save the hassle and spend your time and money elsewhere.
We went to a cheap Mexican joint down the street afterward and their genuine service and hospitality was head and shoulders above what we experienced at Old Ellsworth.
Our particular experience at OEBC may or may not be a unique one but when the owner of the joint can't even be hospitable, there's a...
Read moreNot impressed! My friend and I went last night *Friday 28th of September. Wish I hadn't let her pick, it was no good.Should have known as there were maybe 30 people there at 8pm including wait staff. My friend ordered a 12oz stout which arrived in a tiny (8oz brandy shaped glass) and because she was having beer I ordered something I was told was 'like' a heferweisen - it was more of a lager. My friend found the stout to be very sour and replaced it with wine ($10 for a small glass which was ok) . She also asked the male server for lemon and asked another 5 times over 20 minutes before she had to tell him she would go to the bar and get them herself... Food, their menu is pretty lame a with everything being too many flavors, but we both ended up ordering the UBER (thinking no one could go wrong with an angus burger, ham, egg and cheese) WRONG - this UBER was and Under. The meat was hard, the bun was too, the ham was wafer thin sandwich meat, and the fried egg was greasy, the cheese was ok as were the fries were but the condiments are extremely limited. Service was appalling, the guy was intrusive but didn't deliver after he interrupted and never asked how our food was, even splitting the bill was an effort. I did try to call them to complain direct before writing this review but no answer. Overall : honestly don't bother. NOTE: I've had friends in town this week and have visited two other breweries 1) the Brewery at Westgate : quiet but very good beer, wine and food was excellent and plentiful 2) DJ's on Northern and 101 [ very busy, good service, drinks good and food ok .. so I would recommend them over this rather sad option. Will say the décor was ok and the...
