Third time we tried this place and it will definitely be our last. Only one was a 5 on a 10 scale. Tonight they were out of a mix for a drink they had on special and to-go boxes. On top of that, they tried to charge us for drinks we didn’t have. After it was corrected and we still tipped over 20%. Then we asked... do you really charge $6 for an À la cart taco? Which BTW, we are not cheap, but that is a ridiculous price. We had 2 of them. The manager made the mistake of asking me how everything was on the way out. I again asked him if that price is correct. I got the whole, “ I don’t make the pricing” response. But you are the face of the company you work for. He told me to give them another try and I stated to him it was the 3rd time we had been there. He kept saying the same thing. The gouged pricing wouldn’t change if we came back. We had no problem paying for $6.50 beers and $7.50 margaritas, but don’t you think a 600% markup is a little crazy for a taco? I guess that’s how they try to offset their cost so in the future they can pay for other items they should have like drink mixes and to-go boxes. I even told the manager that we would never be back and expect a horrible review. His response was...have a good night. I wasn’t rude or over the top, but I guarantee this review will cost them more business than charging a fair price. On a positive note, the young man working as a bar back or bus boy was great. Very helpful when no one could figure out how to work the TV’s that went into snooze mode during the Diamondbacks game we were watching. BEWEAR or ensure you know how much the items are that you order. Sorry about the rant. I’m a little fired up. Shut the doors. No one will notice or care. The employees can find a more reputable place to work and be much happier. Watched for the coined automatic response they post. It’s comical.
In response to your response on my review.
Your quality food (aka your tacos) were NOT quality and were worse than Taco Bell’s. For $6 you would think they would be full of meet and incredible. Not so much. I have discussed this with numerous friends and they all agree how horrible their experience has been. I tried to discuss it with your manager at the time who DID NOT make it right or say anything other than try us again. I will NOT and I will tell everyone that I know not only to not give your Queen location a try buy NOT to go to any of your locations. Good luck on making it another year. I’m sure this location will be gone soon. And no one will miss it. Take a look at yelp reviews. 3 our of 5 there and a 4 on this website will diminish rapidly. Do you think your response really would make a difference? What did you do to change my mind??
Stay away everyone. The taco shack is better and even jack in the box is better...

My family and I decided to celebrate the 4th of July at this restaurant. It was kind of dead, so we figured it would be fast and good service. Boy were we wrong. First, the food took over 40 minutes to arrive. When the waitress noticed we were starting to look upset, she approaches us and tells us that the reason the meals are taken too long was due to the steak we had ordered which we had ordered "well done". She also said she wasn't allowed to bring out any meals until the steak was done. I was understanding and we continued to wait. In the meanwhile within those 40 minutes or more, we noticed 3 other white couples who came in after us got their orders before us. Finally, they began bringing the food out and you would think this is where it actually gets better, but in actuality it gets worse. My sister in laws order was wrong (her steak was chopped into bite size squares), my father-in-laws fish platter contained a rubbery-like texture to it (as if it had been sitting around unprepared), my wife's machaca taco came out so greasy and the taste was unbearable. I can almost guarantee that it was a taco left over from the night before and re-thrown on the fryer (stale taste). Lastly, my steak, the one I've been waiting for patiently, comes out bloody as can be (not juicy...BLOODY!!) I was originally told by the waiter that this was the reason "WE" (my family) had been waiting for that long.. because I was to receive a "well done" steak. This is their version of well done? and great service? What obviously happen here, was that our order kept on being pushed back so that the other 3 white couples that came in after us can be accommodated. Their objection: to have us Latinos wait and NEVER come back. Manager came out and apologized and pretty much followed the protocols. Honestly, this is not problem for me as money is NOT the issue (which I quoted to the manager). Starving, disappointing and hungry (3 really hungry kids), headed out to Macayo's as revenge. I felt that their treatment there was a "red carpet" treatment rolled out to me, the kids and the family. It is not about pride, or business, but if I was a business owner I would have the staff focus on good word-of-mouth, reputation and comforting as returning business clients are in fact THE ONES to bring in business income. The reason why I am taking minutes out of my life to get my point across, is to have hope that this message gets heard and have a change of heart. For this reason, I have taken the FREEDOM (ah! America, the land of the free), to post this complain in ZAGAT, Yelp, Google+ Review Summary and many...
Read moreFour of us had dinner at Serrano's Mexican Food in Queen Creek. Two of us ordered the taco salad with ground beef. It was quite good. All of the lettuce was dark green and had no huge center rib chunks, which is most unusual in the restuarant business. Having all of the lettuce dark green was a nice surprise.
There wasn't much ground beef in the salad. The ground beef was correctly spiced and tasted good. It was uniform in texture [no bony bits mixed in]. The flour tortilla bowl was delightfully crunchy. Even the bottom of the bowl was crunchy - many times, the bottom is soaked with water from the lettuce. I shared a bit of the bowl with the child, who thought it was good.
The server was standing in for a server who had called in absent [Friday night is not a good night to miss work in a restaurant]. I think the stand-in server was a boss. He took our order quickly and pleasantly. He returned later to present the bill and to thank all of us for coming here for dinner. That was all he did.
Chips, salsa, and spicy refrieds were delivered by a different server. The chips were very thin, crispy, and delicious. The salsa had cilantro, which 2 of the 3 of us can't stand. Cilantro is not necessary in any dish. The spicy refrieds were quite good. They were of medium heat on the hot pepper scale. The spicy refrieds would also be good as a side dish.
Used empty dishes that should have been removed as our food was delivered were never removed. Dishes are removed for appearances, to reduce theft of dishes and as a sanitary precaution. The food was delivered by staff that should have removed empty dishes as they left.
Better cross-training needs to mandated since employees will be out unexpectedly. That includes all management - if the boss is inadequate, how can that boss correctly assess any employee's efforts?
We dined in; the atmosphere was pleasant. Decor was suited to the Mexican theme. Crayons and paper were provided for the youngster, which the child enjoyed. We will go back to Serrano's...
