My husband and I inadvertently ended up here for dinner when the restaurant we intended to try had just closed before we got there. This place was nearby, so we decided to try it out. It's a very...umm...interesting...variety on the menu with the mash up of American options and Mexican options. I don't know if I have ever seen enchiladas and meatloaf together in the same menu. It's a very small room with limited seating and definitely a sports bar kind of feel. We had a lot of fun watching the one TV screen that was playing trivia.
Our server was a tall, thin, young man who was very friendly and did an amazing job! I forgot his name. We would give him and his service 5 stars! I don't know what he could have improved upon!
I ordered the fish sandwich with sweet potato fries. The fries were delicious! I really liked those! Half of the fish sandwich was very good with the bread perfectly buttered and grilled. The other half...the bottom of the bread was completely soggy, and there was nothing wet anywhere on the plate to make it so. It had to have been soggy from before it was put on my plate. The fish was breaded and fried very nicely, but I think they depend on the tartar sauce being used for flavor. I don't like tartar sauce, and the fish was pretty bland by itself. They also have tartar sauce misspelled in the menu. I wouldn't order the fish sandwich again, but I would be happy to eat the fries again.
My husband ordered hard shell tacos. Don't go to this restaurant for the tacos. They were fine for the low price they were for a Tuesday, but he wouldn't order them at the normal price.
We did not try any drinks, as we were just looking to spend some quality time together eating some yummy food. Maybe getting drinks is what is needed to turn the overall experience there into a 5 star one. It's 3 stars for us because it's not bad and also because it wasn't...
Read moreWe thought it would be a more like a sports bar, and like to support small business over chains, but this place was not family friendly. We had 2 babies in baby seats and a toddler with us and felt very uncomfortable when we walked inside (lots of stares and glares from the customers and staff alike)so we took ourselves out to the patio. But the patio was for smokers and so we had to either deal with the second hand smoke or go back inside to the glares. They took forever to come serve us even though I went up to the bar when the rest of the adults headed outside and let them know we were eating on the patio and asked if I could take menus and they said no they'd be right out. We thought they might have forgotten us but then brought menus only to not come back for 10 or more minutes then it was just to get our drink orders. The food was just ok but very slow and the toddler was not happy to wait so long. The outside tables were filthy and the seats that had cushions were ripped and uncomfortable so we sat on the concrete seats, hard. When we went inside to pay the atmosphere was a lot more family friendly, so maybe just don't go for dinner at 5 and let the happy hour crowd go home first. Though, the group on the patio was there when we got there and we left almost 2 hours later and they were still there. We did appreciate they weren't loud or obnoxious while we were...

2017: It's a strange little place but you'll get used to it. We've been eating here for 12 years, Skippy's has become a favorite for my kids who have been celebrating meals here for most of their lives. Today may have been my last Skippy's meal :'(. I'm a recently diagnosed Celiac, they just don't really seem to know what contains gluten, what for sure doesn't and, apparently, I just poisoned myself with a corn tortilla chip so that'll be fun later :-. The amazing made-in-house ranch is the best I've ever had (no gluten ingredients). FYI, ALL of their tortillas including the corn and crunchy tacos contain gluten. I settled on a sirloin and mashed potatoes and the wobbly assurance of a "hopefully" gluten free meal. Stay away from the red enchilada sauce, it's just not good. They do have a full bar and the people at the bar always seem happy, they have TV's on the wall & usually a couple sports games playing. Cheeseburger with a side salad w/ their amazing ranch has been our favorite for more than a decade, my now 16 year old daughter still likes the kids bean and cheese burrito she's been eating here since age 4. Service is always good but slow like eating in Europe, ask for the bill before...
