I am a big fan of this restaurant for many reasons. My recommended entrees are Seared Salmon // $18 Dijon cream sauce, jumbo asparagus, grilled mashed potatoes and Cajun Tuna Steak // $18 Cilantro lime aioli, jumbo asparagus, garlic mashed potatoes Salmon is perfectly moist, asparagus fresh, and garlic potatoes hearty. Tuna is sushi grade and tastes great raw but if you are paranoid chef can cook it well for you. Complements on having craft and artisanal beers in a town that usually does not have more selection than generic light beers.
If you like Silvertone in downtown Boston you will also appreciate this friendly yet no nonsense wait staff service. Suggestion choose your menu selection before you are seated and save time and frustration on both wait staff and customers. I have been here several times and found wait staff to range from the very helpful and friendly to the functionally impatient. Think Seinfeld soup chef "no soup for you". He who hesitates is lost. If you know what you want before you are seated then all goes well.
My complaints. The restaurant is very popular and does not accept reservations. This can result in long waits, crushed next to tiny bar, and freezing every time someone opens the door in Winter time. Would be more convenient if there was a cafe next door to wait until table was available. Perhaps they should have a SMS paging service to let you know when your table is ready so you can wait at Kama Lounge the tapas bar a block away.
Another complaint. The other night I ordered the rack of ribs for take out. I do not care for mayonnaise or coleslaw. I wanted to substitute for fresh steamed vegetables or salad but they refused and offered more fries instead. This should be a standard option to swap for healthier choice.
Yes, you can avoid the long waits for the table and possible rude wait staff by ordering out. The food is ready in less than 15 minutes. Ordering out will also allow you to avoid paying extra to share your meal...
Read moreA friend of mine mentioned this place a few times before the pandemic. I'm glad I could finally get there. Interesting place in a busy section of Quincy. The food is really good. BIG PORTIONS!!! The Crabcakes were some of the best I've had in Mass, ( I grew up in Maryland, so I know Crabcakes). The spicy aoli is good, it adds depth of flavor but still let the Crabcake flavor through. I got the Fat Cat Philly with Truffle Fries. BIG, but very tasty. They have several flavors of fries on the menu. Real good flavor on the Philly. The Mac and Cheese is the best mac I've ever had, soo good. I know, your mom makes the best Mac ev'ah right? WRONG! This will open your world to how good a Mac and Cheese can be and don't even think about going back to KFC or Chick fil a after this. You could drink the garlic cream sauce in a straw and it would be awesome. BIG. REALLY BIG. You can feed 4 people with this. Unless you are carb loading for the marathon, do not get this alone. You can also add meats for an additional charge. The bartender was super nice. She mentioned that their drinks have a kick to them, so be warned. Another thing is that the bathrooms for this place aren't in the restaurant but across the hall. They were not well maintained when I was there, I'm not sure if the building manager or the restaurant is responsible for that so I will not let it effect my score, but as patrons be warned. Parking is not great in the area as well, but you can walk there from Quincy Center. Definitely worth visiting,...
Read moreRegret to have to write negative review of the restaurant we went to more than any others. Since 1.5 years we got take outs and dine variously times. The beginning was great both food taste and portion served. However the last 4 times things got bad. I usually order seafood pasta. One time all of the muscles were closed and not edible but it was a take out so I couldn't go back but I also didn't think that I had to check. The last time the pasta was just drowning in wet sauce and oil. This time we dined in, the food portion was still very generous but the taste was just bland and nothing stood out (burger, fish&chip, pastrami sandwich) However when the bill came we were charged with things which we weren't informed upfront. friends didn't want fries so they asked if salad can be substitute but the bill still charged a full entree price and plus half of salad's full price. They ran out of food I wanted to get so I didn't order food but told waiter i will eat some of my husband's food. They charged 4$ split fee for a dish that wasn't split on 2 separate plates (we said something and they removed the fee). Point is even though we knew that the restaurant have been having issues with quality consistency due to staffing or whatever we still gave them chance and went back but all theses extra fees which is a matter of principle to inform customers upfront is a must transparency. We can't say that we will come back again. Maybe if we need a large mac&cheese take out but other than that we will try...
