Guthrie's — Restaurant in Rainbow City

Sit tight for the long review but man this place can't get it together. Absolutely awful! Used to enjoy it there but the food has had a major decline in quality every time I give it a chance. Small tenders that are mostly breading, cold and burnt fries, cold burnt toest, and the coleslaw is always a nightmare. Never know what you're gonna get, watery junk or dry cabbage. To top it off the staff just gets worse and worse. The front counter workers are always quite rude and impatient and look anywhere but where customers are approaching so you have to call out to them because their phones are the priority. They staff also has very loud, rude, and inappropriate conversations containing profanity, putting others down, alcohol use, who had sex with who, and weed use! Now they can talk about the at all they want on their own time but it's not exactly what me or my children want to hear while trying to sit down and eat. I've attempted to speak to someone in charge to inform them but it appears the ones in charge act just as bad. A girl, younger with curly hair acted as if she wanted to fix the issue. She had quite a rude and rushed tone but i understand some people talk that way especially at a busy workday. I asked politely for an extra sauce because they failed to give me it and before I could get a word in about the language her employees were using and the volume of it with children in the store she walked off without a word! I tried to get her attention again and failed. When she finally came back out I didn't bother due to a wave of customers and my own annoyance but she kept that snippy tone with every customer. You could tell multiple of them were thrown off. Getting your order taken shouldn't feel like a passive aggressive scolding especially when the customer was polite. Don't get me started on the awful wait times. I've seen people waiting up to 30 minutes for two boxes. Things need time to cook fresh but the place is advertised as fast food. It's even painted on the wall how "fast" and "quick" guthrie's service is. If you're having restaurant wait times in your fast food establishment while you're not even busy then I'm curious what the kitchen staff is doing. The final straw was a particular time where my husband convinced me to give it a shot again because we've had some good food there and he was obsessed with hope. Lo and behold there's the workers hitting their little vapes behind the counters without a care in the world. I walked right out. Tried to give the place many chances because it used to be good but I guess good things can't last forever. My advice, better tenders and get new staff. I saw two decent workers at front, a tan skin girl and a girl with glasses. Polite, easy to order with, attentive, though I only saw them that once and they definitely liked their phones more than I think employees should, it was still a step up. At this point it shouldn't get worse but it also has hygiene issues. Bathrooms are absolutely yuck, what looks like spit all in the sinks. The two flies that I saw come out from being trapped under their cups that they then poured drinks into and served wasn't pleasant either, nor were the black specs in my child's water. Then the gnats! Ugh. I normally am not one for reviews like this but it was definitely a favorite and it's had a very awful decline and I've noticed more and more people complaining so why not give out a proper warning. Don't go!!!! Far too hit or miss and boy are the misses frequent and the prices have been jacked...

I have always felt like Guthries is the most overrated chicken finger joint in the land. Even though they started before Zaxby's there are inferior in many ways. However today I was willing to give them another chance I went to this location Rainbow City in order to Chicken Box with a sweet tea my food. My food was ready in about 5 minutes and the girl brought it out in a box even though the food was to be eating there which is what Guthrie's does. There was no drink present but there was a stack of stack of Styrofoam cups beside my meal so I got one of these looking for a drink machine thinking I had to prepare it myself. At that time some Gruff bearded fellow from the kitchen said hey bud you can't just take a cup like that... As me and my wife were sitting eating our awesome chicken strips that were fresh and juicy the owner comes up and ask us if we needed our drinks to be refilled and I must say the guy was super friendly with a awesome personality. He knew it was our first time so he brought us a couple chicken sliders I'm not sure if that's the name but whatever the hell it was it was it was incredible. My review on this place I give it five stars on every level because we felt welcomed and the food was super good and fresh. Popeye's Chicken along with Kentucky fried Chicken don't come close to the juiciness of the chicken at this establishment and if you don't believe me go try it yourself. It was so good I ordered a bunch to go 😁
