WARNING: TAKE YOUR $$ ELSEWHERE Kung Pao chicken was either inauthentic or completely different dish. What I received was heavily breaded chicken (tore the breading off, and never did find any chicken meat btw) with brown sauce, 6 different vegetables, NO dried red peppers, and NO peanuts. Seriously, what Kung Pao recipe have you heard of that includes celery, carrots, zucchini, green peppers, mushrooms, and baby corn? The beef with garlic sauce was gross!! Meat doesn't have taste or texture of beef (what the heck is it?). The broccoli in the dish was black, slimy, and rotten. Also, the shrimp toast was burnt and so greasy, if you squeezed it slightly, it was dripping with grease. I attempted to call and kindly let them know the issue with the Kung Pao chicken (this was before I tasted anything though) and the lady told me I should Google the recipe. Only thing she offered was 1 menu item for half price. Haha, no thanks! I did Google the recipe though and decided to post it here so that China Fu can get it right: INGREDIENTS
TO ROAST THE PEANUTS:
▢1 teaspoon vegetable oil
▢1 cup raw peanuts (shelled, with or without the skin)
▢Can also substitute roasted shelled peanuts and skip this step!
TO MARINATE THE CHICKEN:
▢12 oz. 340g chicken breast, cut into 3/4” cubes
▢1 teaspoon vegetable oil
▢1 teaspoon cornstarch
▢1 teaspoon shaoxing wine
▢1/8 teaspoon salt
▢a pinch of ground white pepper
TO PREPARE THE SAUCE:
▢1 tablespoon light soy sauce
▢1/2 teaspoon dark soy sauce
▢1 tablespoon rice wine vinegar
▢1 teaspoon sugar
▢3 tablespoons water
▢1 teaspoon cornstarch
THE REST OF YOUR INGREDIENTS:
▢3 tablespoons oil
▢3 cloves garlic , smashed and sliced
▢2 thin slices ginger , minced
▢2 dried red chilies , deseeded and chopped (these can be quite spicy, so adjust according to your own tastes)
▢1/2 teaspoon Sichuan peppercorn powder
▢6 scallions , white portions only, cut into 3/4” pieces
INSTRUCTIONS
Heat a teaspoon of oil in a wok over medium heat and add a cup of raw shelled peanuts. Stir constantly (or they’ll burn) for 3 minutes. Turn off the heat and stir for another minute using the residual heat in the wok. Set aside to cool. They will turn crunchy once they’re cooled completely. You can also skip this step and use already roasted shelled peanuts.
Marinate the chicken. Mix together the chicken with all the marinade ingredients in a bowl and set aside for 20 minutes.
Prepare the sauce. Mix together all the sauce ingredients in a medium bowl and set aside.
Heat 2 tablespoons oil in a wok over high heat. Sear the chicken, remove from the wok to a bowl, and set aside.
Turn the heat to low and add another tablespoon oil. Add the garlic, ginger, chilies, Sichuan peppercorn powder, and scallions. Cook for a minute or two until fragrant.
Add the chicken back to the pan and turn up the heat to high. Stir-fry for a minute and then use your finger to stir up your prepared sauce (the cornstarch will have settled to the bottom, so make sure it’s well incorporated). Add the sauce to the wok and stir-fry for another minute. The sauce should thicken very quickly.
Finally, add the peanuts. Give everything a final...
Read moreThe owners were the absolute worst. First as I walk in she is on the phone and ignoring that she has customers. I make eye contact to give my order, I ordered chicken chow mein as I usual do at other places restaurants. This lady tries to correct me by saying do you mean lo mein and I was offend at first but as this ordering process went on she became more rude. Her customer service skills were very lacking. I got my food and the chicken looked fake or like mashed tofu. I was very uncomfortable eating it and after all her other customers were done ordering I went up quietly to ask her if I could change my food out. She basically got loud and aggressive saying she cant change my food, she wont give me my money back. The only option was to reorder something for half the price. I didnt want to spend another dollar there after how she spoke to me. Then a customer watching and hearing everything that happened requested her money back. So she really got mad because the other customer told her that was not nice how she is treating a customer. She started yelling at both of us and then threatened to call the police. "Ok" for asking for our money back I guess?? I run a business and I treat my clients with respect, I try to accommodate them to make them happy. I realize this city can get really small when you start reacting in an unprofessional manner. CHINA FU is not recommended for the quality of food, terrible customer service, and lack of respect towards other races. She really made me feel like it was a black issue. As if I cant read or see pictures for the food I ordered. Ignoring my presence upon arrival and while trying to order and to yelling and threaten customers was very unacceptable.
Never will I ever order from this restaurant again in life.
Yall better watch what you eat.. that was not...
Read moreWhile I have ordered from this place several times, and overall it is not bad, I am writing today about the service and not the food. In an effort for curbside, or quick takeaway, and not standing in line ordering, or waiting for it to be cooked, I ordered online. I even got an email from them stating my order and the price. When I got to the store to collect 10 minutes later, they tried to charge me 10% more. They said it was an internet ordering fee. I asked if it was noted on the website and I had missed it. If so, I could understand, but they responded, "We are working on that" and pointed to a sign hanging on their register area. A sign I would not have been able to read until I walked in! I mentioned again that the total I was given on the website and via email was not what they were charging. The kid at the register said they were being charged by the website. I said, I understand, but will you not charge me for what you confirmed the price to be? He said "we don't give discounts". In my opinion, I am not getting a discount if he removes the fee that shouldn't be there in the first place. Had I walked in, or called in, I would have been charged the price as stated in my confirmation email. Just not good business practice! I chose to leave without my food or paying for it due to this. They probably lost more profit from my order, and goodwill with a repeat customer, than they would have by removing that 10% they apparently owe...
