After reading all of the wonderful reviews, I can only assume we caught them on an off day today. Ordered a Hillsborough and a Saint Mary’s to go. The young man taking orders was as polite as can be, my to-go order was ready quickly, and it was delightful inside the market/restaurant. I had ordered potato salad and fresh fruit as my two sides, but received two fruit salads (much to the dismay of my husband who is not a fan of fruit.) My husband couldn’t find any cheese or crispy shallots on his Hillsborough (although we did realize later the cheese was very thinly sliced and had melted), and I could find no discernible portobello mushrooms on my Saint Mary’s, despite it being the first listed ingredient. At $15 per sandwich, it just seemed like quite an expensive lunch to have so many things overlooked.

Hi, great people----The reviews are true! This hidden gem 💎 is a go to for early morning breakfast or a lovely lunch on the patio. The location is quiet and just lovely with the trees offering shade on the patio. The customer service is simply phenomenal. You absolutely won't be disappointed. They offer samples of their deli. The prices are hard to beat. There's also a small market with wine and beer. I appreciate them celebrating 🍾 NC favorites. I had the pleasure of getting a chicken salad croissant that had arugula and tomatoe on it. I was very pleased at the party portion. So what are you waiting for? You'll enjoy this location as much as I did. Don't forget to smile often, be grateful, and be kind. They are all contagious.

Delicious spot for quick bite to eat or to relax outside with. Aside from their menu offerings they have a small shop featuring various wine bottles you can’t find in the grocery store, chilled beer, Knick knacks for your home or gift for a friend. There’s a deli window featuring some of their classic dishes to bowl up right from the window. (Bean salad, chicken salad, tuna salad, etc). Which that was fun to see to pick what to pair with my sandwich. They also have a bar- PS love the foodservice wrapped tissue paper that’s logo + get the s’mores Rice Krispie bar next to the check out counter.

I came in earlier and then again during the lunch rush. The lunch rush had a line, which is usually a good sign for a business. The older lady behind me bumped into me while looking at the food and said nothing. Okay I thought. She's just eager. I get up to check out and request a dish I saw. After the male cashier went to get it and placed it on the counter, I was told I could have asked for it earlier and to next time just ask for it instead of waiting in line and then asking. WHEN? While they were serving other customers? If this order wasn't for someone else, I would have requested a refund right on the spot. You don't speak to me like I'm some child.

Coming back to the US from Europe, I realized service here would be different but my god the customers and staff are rude. Imagine bumping into someone and saying nothing. And if I would have said something, I would have been wrong. The food is pretty mid and cost wise, not worth it. I only went back in because I was asked.

I'm Black and I can only assume the staff member felt comfortable speaking to me that way, because the clientele is generally White and wealthy. I bet I looked like an easy target and he was feeling some kinda way after dealing with earlier customers. My advice is take pride in your work and be respectful when working with the public. I'm not a punching bag and I won't...

Today I encountered an irritated employee who felt I was wasting her time by placing a simple sandwich order. I called in early to place an order for pickup later in the afternoon. To my disappoint I was encountered by the excuse they would have no bread for the day. This seems absolutely crazy especially due to the fact that being a caterer they would require large quantities of bread for any kind of order. The attitude was absolutely horrible and from previous experiences this seems systemic to how the store operates the customer service side of the customer service business!

As you can see from some previous comments in the reviews they clearly believe they have no responsibility to call in/walk in customers. However they have a storefront, a posted menu, and offers to place orders togo. This would indicate they are trying to cater to individuals of some degree. Yet if you place an order on an off day for them it is clearly the customer's fault to have set such an high expectation for them.

If individual customers are treated in this regard what is stopping the store from treating large order customers with the same "care". I will not be using this company for any business in the future as this was the...

Overall I'd say the food is pretty tasty. The staff is friendly to me every time I'm there. NIce atmosphere and they have seating outside. It is also very clean. The coffee is tolerable. They use an automated machine for the drip coffee, lattes, & cappachinos.

Like others have said this place is expensive. You are paying for convenience. For example the same pint of ice cream you buy from Wegmans or Whole Foods for $6.99 is $10.00 here. The sandwiches I have gotten have been around $14-$16 and comes with a side. They have all been made to order. Hot and fresh everytime.

The only issue I have had is with the breakfast menu. The sign says a breakfast sandwich WITH egg, cheese, & bacon or sausage is $6. I've gotten this twice and was charged what was advertised. The last time I went I was told that everything is extra. So I was charged an extra $.75 for the bread and an extra $1.50 for meat. Which means the only thing the $6 covers is egg and cheese? My total with tax came to $8.93. If that's the case then that is fine, but I think this needs to be made clear on the menu. I personally think it's weird to be charged extra for bread and meat for something advertised as a...
