Metro Diner — Restaurant in Raleigh

As always I have to be honest this place is homey and feels like a lowkey family reunion when you go. The customer service is great but if you don’t have good company that have great conversation and you do not have patience reserve your table or this is not the place for you. Waitress was super cool both times I came here so that’s very important to me. 2nd time I came I had my 2 month old son and he is really the cheat code when it comes to getting great service anywhere, what can I say he a Prince! 1st the customer service was equally good without the cheat code. Had two order mishaps the first time but my waitress took care of us pronto. Not how you start it’s how you finish. Now once we sat down and order this is where good company and patience is required.Both times food took a very long time this is slight knock but the place is usually packed and people call in sick a lot these days lol! Covid changed us. So we had the avocado toast that I sent back if you don’t order this earlier in the day close to there open time you will get old avocados. Look delicious.. but the great reception that day was with them fiya pumpkin pancakes hash potatoes the butter is crazy tasty and thee syrup. Wife really enjoyed the buffalo mac bowl she enjoyed

1st time Avocado toast 1 of 5 because avocados were old but if they were fresh it would haves slapped Pumpkin Pancakes 5 of 5 Buffalo chicken oven bake 4 of 5 Biscuit Ain’t it 🤷

The steak had tender and tough pieces gray was Fuego. If you like even portion of mash potatoes with steak order another mash potato. Mash was definitely mashing. Chicken could be seasoned but the crispiness was perfect. You have to try this out Louisiana hot sauce on the chicken andd dip it in the syrup they give you sheeeesh😤 So good MAN THIS BANGING!!! The waffles were perfectly cooked crisp on the outside but soft on the inside. Typically I don’t order Belgium style waffles cause they too crunchy but these right here right make you close your eyes with the butter of choice strawberry or cinnamon it don’t matter you want even need the syrup for re for real with that flavorful butter (cheat code) I like this place prices are decent and no weird crowd old and you in there just grubbing. Definitely a place you can frequent. Hash browns on point I get them crispy on both side real good flavor. Now to the biscuits we are in the biscuit capitol NC so you can’t have ok biscuits I had to put them in a napkin seriously respectfully. A bad item will not keep me and the fam from returning here cause really appreciate the staff and the tasty things they do have. Hunt for the good that a good book

It was our first visit to Metro Diner. We arrived nearly 5 minutes to close, but we're accepted with great smiles.

Our server name was Isaiah. He was extremely knowledgeable of the menu. Very pleasant and professional. I ordered the chicken and waffles. It was a lot of food; I took a 1/4 of the chicken and 1/2 of the waffle home. Isaiah mixed the syrup in our presence. It had the right amount of heat and sweet. The chicken was freshly prepared, and I poured the syrup on it. Just great. The whipped strawberry butter on the waffle was also amazing. The pairing of the chicken and waffle is great. I will get that again and again and again.

My husband had the club sandwich with French fries. The sandwich is HUGE. He saved half of it. Everything was freshly made. Hot fries and homemade honey mustard sauce. PLEASED on the portion size and freshness. Plated well.

The cherry on top was Isaiah, and he constantly assured that we were fine. While they were preparing for closing, he never rushed us and kept the same calm and professionalism the entire time. We would enjoy his service again.

We also witnessed that the crew who worked last night worked together as a team. They were joyfully helping one another from the time we arrived. Nobody made us feel rushed. Each greeted us and smiled.... that makes your food taste even better.

We will return to try other dishes as well as tell others about the atmosphere. It was one of the best late visits we've unintentionally made. See you again, Isaiah and Metro staff. Great job, clean environment, and...

Great food + fantastic service = BIG WIN!

We love coming here for “diner food”, especially in the evening to satisfy that ‘breakfast for dinner’ craving.

Sat 02/24 5:30 pm. Party of 2.

There was no wait, several tables were open, we were promptly seated in a booth upon request.

We were cheerfully (!!) greeted by Samantha who said she recognized us from a previous visit. (We were quite impressed!)

Order:

• Coffee, Decaf Hot and fresh

• BLT Triple Decker + Fries My fave place for a BLT. The bacon is always crispy, bread is lightly toasted, and it’s well-stacked. Fries are served hot (as fries should be!)

• Country Style Steak (daily special), 2 eggs scrambled, hash browns, Belgian waffle. Made to order - Eggs, hash browns and Belgian waffles were perfect. The country style steak, however, was much too salty for our liking.

When we mentioned this to our server, Samantha, without hesitation, she took care of it and made it right.

She provided top-notch, attentive, friendly service throughout our meal. While the food was great, it’s the service that sets The Metro Diner apart from other places.

We will continue to dine here again in the future (and hope to sit in Sam’s...
