I don't normally write reviews, but this is the first time I actually felt bad after getting ice cream. I found this place online and decided to go based off pictures and good reviews. Atmosphere: Colorful and lively, clearly catered to kids as there was a playground outside. Price: I ordered the 4. Mazapanazo, small size (16 oz cup). The total came out to $12.98. I was appalled. There were no prices next to the menu items. No signs disclosing the price within the cashier area either. admit I could have asked for the price ahead of time before ordering or just canceled my order at that moment, but I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt and try their product. Furthermore, my change was $7.02, and the cashier (young male in late teens or early twenties) only gave $7.00. I did not say anything only because it was a miniscule amount and I would've put it in the tip jar anyway, (although I realize I should've said something as a learning moment) HOWEVER, it is the cashier's due diligence to always give the correct change. Food: The ice cream itself was okay, a 4/10. It certainly did not justify the $12.98 l paid. Although nice aesthetically, I didn't appreciate the wrapped candy directly in my ice cream. I wouldn't deem it sanitary. Cleanliness: The napkins I grabbed near the register were dirty, they appeared to have been used. Overall, I would not return here again. Even if the portions were bigger or the prices more reasonable, my first experience here will make it my last. If the business sees this review, I hope they will take the necessary steps to better their products and services....
Read moreLa Michoacana is a unique Mexican ice cream shoppe in the Midtown area of North Raleigh. It's tucked away on St Albans inside of an unassuming strip mall that features Latin eateries and bakeries. You can't miss the yard with all of the unique animals, Mexican flags, and ice cream decor. I was craving a refreshing ice cream after perusing the State Farmers Market. I wanted Latin style shaved ice. Upon arrival I took my time to peruse the menu and was greeted. I decided on the #24 Raspanieve. Raspanieve is a Mexican dessert consisting of shaved ice, flavored syrup, and sometimes fresh fruit and ice cream. Its very rich and dense and refreshingly cold for a hot day. The young lady at the counter was very beautiful and offered excellent customer service. She smiled and was kind enough to share with me all of the flavors. You must choose 1 flavor for the shaved ice and 1 flavor for the ice cream. I spent some time in the adorable yard that features a cute playground, and lots of outdoor seating. Once prepared I received a humongous cup of shaved ice topped with coconut ice cream. My family is from Jamaica, so coconut ice cream is a favorite of mine. This ice cream was some of the best I've had in a while. Huge coconut shavings ! The mango flavored shaved ice was so crunchy and cold ! This combination with the condensed milk is paradise in a cup. You can share this because it's so much for the value ! For the Quality and large portions you receive here, the price is just right ! I ordered a small which is actually a large for $9.73. It's not cheap but nothing worth having is in...
Read moreMy friend took me here, and upon arriving, I could tell this was gonna be an awesome ice cream place. Their outside decorations were fun and whimsical. They have a small playground for the little ones. Inside, I was overwhelmed by the various options! From macorons to paletas to their custom creations, I just didn't know what to try! I ended up with the mangonada loca. It consists of mango ice cream, real mango fruit pieces, sour gummies, and your choice of paleta. And then they put a lot of chamoy lol. It was quite yummy but now that I tried it, I would prefer to have just a little bit of chamoy, and maybe more tajin. I would definitely come back and try their ice cream. So many interesting flavors! My friend got the mazapan milkshake, and it was nice and creamy.
Please try them out, you will...
