So this was new to me, and I can't complain about the food. I'm used to eating indian cuisine, and this is not the same, though it has some similarities. Very little salt added, but besides that, I had several things, and I will say the price is fine...roughly $12-15 for an entree no matter if lunch or dinner. That a main and 2 sides or even 4 sides, and they have sides that include chicken like curry and rice with chicken and carrots. I got a veggie lasagna with 2 sides (greenbeans in tomatoe sauce and rice with carrots) and a grape leaf rice wrap. I dont know the proper names, so my apologies. All was just okay. However, I wouldn't go back because I just didn't really enjoy it. The veggie lasagna had sliced potatoes, squash, and eggplants in it with tomatoe sauce and topped with cheese... just wasn't that good. I never had veggie lasagna with big slices of potatoes in it, but I'm not going to judge it since it could be a cultural dish, and that's how it's prepared. The greenbeans were good with salt added, and the rice thing was okay. I like the K&W style of it. Most Foods are already made, and they scoop it in front of you. The lady helping let me even try a sample of other things. I tried the ratatouille, which was cubed eggplant in tomatoe sauce...not good to me...and I also tried some fried cabbage, which is also not good to me. They had like 10 different prepared salads to choose from as well. I sat in an area that had a bunch of plugs to charge my phone. They provided a water cup and pita chips when asked FOC. There is a small grocery store in there as well. There was plenty of seating...wish I would've taken pics of the scene, but my battery was too low. It's located in a nice shopping center as well. There is a popular thrift store, Lowes Grocery store, etc. Right off Six Forks road near i540. I didn't rate it harshly as it was my taste buds, I think. It's a good place to get a quick Mediterranean meal and that grape leaf thing was good.

We have been long time Sassool addicts (for 6+ years we have gone at least once a week). Their food is unparalleled but we can no longer support this business. On the evening of the 30th of March 2021, 4 maskless patrons entered the restaurant and were served. I inquired to the staff as to why they weren't told to adhere by the government mandate to wear a mask indoors and received the response "our management doesn't care". The heartbreak in that statement was palpable. It was followed by "I lost a grandparent to this so I totally understand your frustration and share it". After contacting the restaurant we received a generic response that they had "posted government mandated signs" and that we were "welcome to not come back until we felt safe". Frankly, I was shocked. Leave alone that this statewide mandate should absolutely be enforced by employers; would you turn away people without a shirt? Without shoes? Why not do the same for those without a mask? The science is out there and confirmed - wearing a mask saves lives. Not only does Sassool put their patrons at risk but they do so for their staff as well (note they had to close in 2020 because of a staff outbreak most likely due to their ambivalence towards Coronavirus safety protocols). The health and well being of your patrons and staff should be your responsibility. Choosing to not take a side on this issue and say "to each their own" is, in fact, taking a side. Sassool, you were our favorite place. We took out of towners here, spent many many meals with you, and continued to support you during the pandemic. Unfortunately, we wont be returning as long as you continue to jeopardize your workers and loyal customers.

Sassool is a great restaurant if you want that kind of food. BUT there are a few items on the menu that they do not seem to be able to prepare in a consistent manner. The sweet potato salad is great. But sometimes it is very very spicy. My husband and I order it a lot and every other time we take a few bites and throw it away. The times they actually measure things out and get it right it is fabulous. It is supposed to have some spice- but it is not supposed to be so hot you can not eat it. IF you are on a "leap" diet or have any allergies or restrictions beware. I read the menu and took note of all the items in the Super Salad- it mentioned kidney, pinto and lentil beans. However, when it was on my plate the last 4 times I ordered it - it had black beans. It also says it includes cranberries, It had yellow raisins. I was on a elimination diet and was not supposed to be eating raisins, or black beans. PHOTO : The Super Salad and a screen shot of the menu description of the Super Salad. I don't think Google review keeps the photos beside the review though.

Amazing food, have been twice this week already! Did have some moments of confusion on items I’d like to note though to avoid others also being disappointed when ordering:

A few notes for management about some confusion and discrepancies on your food descriptions:

1.) Fattoush-it did not contain ANY pita!! Literally not even one piece. None in my husbands salad either. I have literally never had a fattoush salad with no pita and thought the whole point was that it was a bread salad -wondering why you don’t add that in? May be better to change the description as it’s not a fattoush salad - it is delicious but not fattoush- was a bit disappointed to order and find none in the salad. :/

2.) Chicken Shawarma- your display board and photo shows it has to tomatoes and pickles on top, but each time I ordered it, it was just pure meat in a pita. Also delicious but also not what you are advertising- very confusing. We asked someone at the counter and they said “oh it’s just mixed in now, not on top” so again, confusing messaging and while the taste was great it’s not what we thought we were ordering based on your photo and descriptions.

Again my issues are with the food photos and descriptions but in no way the taste or flavor- everything I had was amazing. I just think it’s a bit misleading to show photos of food that doesn’t end up looking like what you advertise once you get it- shawarma was not topped with tomatoes and pickles at ALL - are these mistakes the staff are making or is the photo just outdated and your recipe changed? So confusing! My husband was disappointed there bc he expected to get what was advertised and was looking fwd to something fresh on top of the meat and it was just meat in a bread pita.

None of this will stop me from coming back, but I do hope mgmt can update their descriptions and photos to show what you are actually ordering otherwise it can seem misleading. Or if it’s an issue with staff, maybe address? I think it’s important for you to create consistency so customers can trust in what they order.

Maybe not everyone has had these dishes before so isn’t aware what they are getting isn’t what the dish typically is, either way, please address as so so confusing and creates a bit of a weird feeling. I really want to keep coming back but now nervous that what I order will continue to not be what you advertise so I hope you can sort it out. Have seen other customers also mention that items seem to not be prepared in a consistent way, so I do hope you...

9/9/2023 - 3:00 pm - We will never return to this restaurant again. The African American female with the glasses was VERY disrespectful and rude to me and my family when another girl got her to help clarify our family meal. The first girl was having difficulty getting our order correct and did not seem to understand that we had someone with a gluten allergy. So, she went to go get help. When the African American girl with glasses (she never introduced herself) came over to the counter, we could all see it on her face that she did not want to help. She seemed disgusted with us. The first words out of her mouth was “what’s the problem?” Then she proceeded to correct my wife by stating “the menu says beef not steak” when my wife was trying to order the beef kabob. Then when my wife and son were moving toward the end of the case to show her what he wanted for his second side item she frowned at the first girl, shook her head, and rolled her eyes as if she was disgusted with us. I called her out on it too as I stated “I saw you roll your eyes and you’ve had a bad attitude ever since you walked up to this counter and we will not be spending our money here or eating at a place that disrespects us in such a way.” I even asked to speak to the manager as I was walking away and a man standing near the cash register stated “I’m the manager.” When I started to tell him what happened the African American female with glasses began talking over me and would not let me speak. I then said “excuse me, do not speak over me” and told the “manager” what had just happened. He didn’t say a word. So, I gathered my family and we walked out. We would have spent around $70 during this visit and that is probably around what we usually spend at Sasool (or more) when we invite friends and family multiple times throughout the year - but NEVER again. I will not be inviting anyone else I know to eat here. In fact, we left there and found an even better place for very delicious Mediterranean food that is just a couple miles away called Taza Grill. The food was so spectacular! We ate so much food and had so much food left over!! We will definitely be going back many times with many people to Taza Grill in the future. Sam, at Taza, took our order and was SO NICE! He had a big smile on his face the whole time and answered all our questions. Taza Grill is our new...

Food was good but go to Cary location where the staff is better trained and cares more. Went here last week and the first person to interact with me at the deli area got my order wrong three times, as I was trying to order two plates for my son and self. Finally she just said “I can’t hear you” but made no effort to come closer or ask for clarification. I decided it wasn’t worth trying to get two plates so just ordered food for my son and decided not to eat (forgoing dinner seemed preferred to having to correct this person again). I was trying to speak loudly but the store was busy so maybe not much she could do, except she offered “I can’t hear you” by way of blowing me off, not trying to correct the situation. Next, I figured I’d order some deserts from the desert counter so at least I’d have something to eat. My family and friend we were with are all vegan so I ordered the pistachio vegan cake. A different staff member gave me pistachio Turkish delight instead but just tossed it in a bag so I didn’t see it. Took it to the table and my husband (after sharing his food with me) ate some of the Turkish delight. Realizing there was no way that what he ate didn’t have cream or gelatin, he showed me the rest of the bag. I took it up to the counter and told a third staff member that I didn’t think it was vegan. So he agreed and gave me some flower coated Turkish delight and promised me it actually was vegan. I tried to tell him that I wanted the cakes I originally ordered that were marked vegan, but again, it was busy and I felt unheard. So I took the flower desert back to the table and we all tried taking bites of it (it was very hard and chewy and hard to eat), when I realized that it was also probably made of gelatin so I took it back up and looked over the signs. The flower Turkish delight wasn’t marked vegan. So I asked the guy (3rd person to get our order wrong) to please change it out for the pistachio cake that was marked vegan. He did. Then I suggested that the signs on the front marking which foods were vegan /gf/ etc, could also be put on the back to prevent mistakes. Then he said “That’s how it is in Cary.” 😏 We all felt queasy the rest of the night. The entree foods were good but once you feel sick the experience...
