We've dined here twice in 6 days and wish we had more time in the Rapid City area to eat there again. They're having gluten-free pita is amazing; their lamb kebab is to die for; their side salad is a wonderful Greek salad with feta cheese, pickled onions, black olives, carrots, lettuce and the most wonderful salad dressing. What really sets this restaurant apart is the interest of the employees in everyone having a good experience. In fact we found they spoiled us twice. The first time they were out of the lamb, which is marinated for several hours. The dishwasher was helping out at the cash register when we came in. So she didn't know they had sold out, so the chef came out and apologized for the delay in our order and offered to refund all of our money or to make me a special GF combination plate. So I was able to sample many of the things like the falafel and others that I might not have ordered originally. The entire thing --absolutely everything was delicious. Our 2nd visit I wasn't as hungry, so just ordered a single lamb kebab {yum!} and shared my husband's Greek salad. He wanted french fries, [I can't eat potatoes], so he acquiesced for the salad to share. The cashier overheard our conversation so brought him a side of FF's at no charge! They walk out among their customers sharing their joy of running the restaurant and making sure the customers are happy with their food,. We saw many takeout orders; and could tell with the families there as well as singles and couples that they get a lot of repeat business.
Don't sidestep them for the chains nearby in this strip mall.... This is a Rapid City Gem not...
Read moreThis was disappointing. I live in Europe and I certainly didn't get what I was expecting. The "chicken" gyros were really bad. It's not really "gyro-style" chicken at all. Just a clump of diced chicken, thrown on a pita, a few slices of tomato and cucumber on top and then some really nasty-tasting spice mixture liberally sprinkled on top. You couldn't really pick it up and eat it, and the only utensils available were plastic forks (which wouldn't cut through the pita). There was a very small container of "tzatziki" that came with the meal, but it was basically a clump of sour cream that had maybe been near a cucumber once. NOT good tzatziki at all. (Interestingly, one of the side dishes you can order is that same tzatziki: for $1.75! A serious ripoff in my opinion.)
Rapid City was a great place to visit, but the Gyro Hub was definitely the low point of our trip through the western US. Worst restaurant we ate at the whole time.
If you've never had Greek food, and aren't fussy, you might like this place. I can't recommend it at all. There are lots of better places in town to eat: go...
Read moreTo start off this place seemed perfect and convenient, the reviews say it's amazing and it was right off the highway. We're in town for the weekend and we were looking for good, no hassle food and they had that. Downside, it is soo expensive for a glorified chipotle. We had a rice bowl w chicken and a gyro plate and 2 drinks and it came to $50. We couldn't figure out why so we had to go ask for an itemized receipt cause we never originally received one. Turns out every questions the cashier asked us was an up charge. "do you want fries, salad, or rice with that" is $6 more. It makes it seem like it comes with the food but it doesn't and you spend more than you anticipate. The price for the food without the sides is ridiculous, you would definitely still be hungry. Anyway, I did love the food I'm just kinda flabbergasted at how much more we ended up spending than the menu suggested. I don't think I'd come back, which is a bummer cause it...
