This is a great place to have lunch or dinner. The atmosphere is culturally decorated and cozy with a beautiful Chinese Art styled landscape mural just as you walk in. I've lived in the area for several years, and Wah Hing has never been too busy, that we've had to wait for a table more than a minute or so. This is a family run restaurant. Their service is very nice, friendly, and swift. And they are always nearby whenever you are in need of something. The family still have heavy accents, so sometimes it's not easy to discern a word or two. I find this to be endering. I also like hearing to them talk to each other in their own language, lends to the quaint cultural atmosphere they have created. The food is excellent! It has a large selection of menu items, and they don't they don't mind switching items in their combination meals. So you're able to get just what you want. The prices are reasonable for a sit-down restaurant. The combination meals are best for variety and cost. The portions are very generous. We almost always have leftovers!
Some recommendations
The Po Po Platter is my favorite Appetizer, it offers a delicious variety of meats to sample! It has fried prawns, chicken and beef skeurs, BBQ pork, and foil wrapped chicken. All set around a small flame grill in the center. It's is engaging and fun. you grill right at the table.
The hot and sour soup. Is great. I add soy sauce to it. Gives it a little kick!
If you like spicy, try the Mongolian Beef or the Orange Chicken.
Sweet and sour chicken is awesome.
Pork or chicken fried rice. BBQ Pork, Potstikers, and Fried Prawns. Egg flower soup.
As with any place, there may have been a bad experience that someone has had here.
But as a local, and a person who can't stand bland food, And of course I'm not a fan of everything on the menu. I've had an overall really good experience with Wah Hing...
ย ย ย Read moreThis is the best food around!!! The quality is nothing but perfection, it's a great price for the amount you are served. The staff are so wonderful and make you feel so welcomed. I had the #9 sweet and sour chicken, and the prawns. 8/4/24.UPDATE REVIEW! My husband and I came into our favorite place to eat after a very long 4 hour drive back home to Idaho. We were so looking forward to a great meal, unfortunately what we got was absolutely the opposite. I'm generally not the type of person who will send food back to the kitchen but I did today, and I definitely paid for it from the wait staff, my food was served barley warm and by the time the waiter got back around to my table I had absolutely lost my appetite, he offered to heat it up for me and I politely declined, my husband's plate was served the same way, hardly warm but he was very hungry and ate it anyway. My husband paid the bill while I waited in the car just to find out that we were charged half price for my plate of food that I had 2 bites of noodles and I shrimp before sending it back, so of course I took the recipe back in and asked why, the waiter was very very very very rude to me about it, said he told me he would only charge us half price and I disagree to that, I'm not paying almost 10.00 dollars for a few bites of food! So he then asked if I ate the egg flour soup that was served long before our meals and I said yes, he then charged me 4.00 for that and gave me 5.75 back as a refund. I've never been treated so poorly. Unfortunately my husband and I will never return as customers and we will never refer people to eat there again. I'm truly shocked by the actions...
ย ย ย Read moreExcellent food overall. I've had many items from the menu, and all of them have been delicious. I normally dislike chow mein, finding it somewhat on the bland side but their chow mein is fairly flavorful. Their fried rice is also, I've tried food from other local places and found myself having to add a bit of soy sauce. But with Wah Hing's fried rice, I never feel the need to do that. Their almond chicken is the fried in batter chicken breast served with almond gravy as an aside. Most places here do that, but I know a few that do it as a dish similar to cashew chicken except with almonds. All of their sauces are homemade as well, including I think the mustard for an appetizer like BBQ pork. And despite the claim of another reviewer, their pork fried rice and other pork based dishes DO contain a fair amount of pork, and none of their food "tastes the same" in my experience.
My only complaints are that 1) Their concept of spicy is mild, people wishing truly spicy may want to ask them to make it so and 2) I usually do take out, and I have had them make mistakes twice with takeout orders. So, one does need to double check the order when doing takeout before leaving the place.
As for comments like "Not real Chinese", well it is mostly Chinese-American cuisine, which yes is it's own cuisine. I find it ironic that the one person saying that suggests Panda Express, which serves nothing but Chinese-American. But I guess some people need to be food snobs and rate only on their odd concept of "authentic" without rating the food on it's own. That attitude to me is a true insult to...
