Although I've been to LongHorn Steakhouses prior, yesterday Dec 30th, 2018 was my first time at the Reading location. It is the closest location from Boston, only a 20-25 minute ride. I went late afternoon around 3pm with my fiance and our 2 kids, ages 8 and 2. There was no wait time or overly crowded and a mix of families and couples young and old. The decor was very authentic, cozy and inviting. Plus everything, including restrooms, were impeccably clean, even the silverware had no markings which occurs almost everywhere. The social atmosphere was very somber though. That aside, we did enjoy our meals very much, which were the crab cake filet & flo's filet with lobster tail. Kids had kid menu items; mac & cheese, crispy chicken tender and fries. The prices and portions were more than reasonable. Way better quality meat and sizes than competitors like fridays, Texas road House, etc. A major downer for us and even to the point of seriously rethinking to attend this location or not again was unfortunately our waitress. We were greeted & immediately seated by a warm and friendly hostess. She sat us the 1st booth to the right of the hostess station which is located more in the middle of the restaurant. Just a couple minutes later our waitress, a female in her 20s, came to take our drink order. She never once said hello or her name, she NEVER EVER smiled or even smiled with her eyes, she had this bothersome look. She took our drink orders and at that time I told her I wanted a fruit punch for my youngest. She put her hand on her hip, sighed loudly and with this annoyance like I should of known better she said "fruit punch? We dont have it." I was confused because the kids menu drink option only had 2 options, milk or fruit punch. The way she said it was more like they've never sold fruit punch, not as if they ran out. She never gave an explanation so I just asked for ginger ale. Also my oldest began feeling unwell so being busy with her my fiance asked what soft drinks they have available. She rolled her eyes this time and just said "coke products." We did our drink order. When she brought them over we began ordering food. Again she only looked annoyed and bothered. My fiance ordered for the both of us while I kept the kids entertained. He had to repeat himself 3 times in a row because she wasnt paying attention due to lack of interest in us and her job as it seemed to us. He then again asked a question about their sides this time and she tapped her pen on her notepad before slouching and giving another vague response. Food arrived quickly and correctly none the less. She never came by to ask how things were going. My fiance had to flag her down for a refill of his soda which she ignored the first time. After finishing up our meal she happened to walk by our table so we quickly told her we wanted the check and a container to pack up the kids left overs. When she came back with our receipt after we paid, she never even said thank your, goodbye or have a nice day. It was not even that busy in the restaurant at that time, nor did she have many tables to wait so I dont understand why she was so annoyed. It was not just our table though I noticed her demeanor being so poorly. The table behind us could be heard constantly criticizing the way she was being rude and unprofessional, which she was. That waitress should not be working with people in this kind of environment with that kind of bothersome, bratty attitude. I probably will return because I doubt everyone who works there is like that. The hostess was sweet but our waitress definitely...
Read moreI love longhorns and go often no matter what city or state i am in. A colleague and I went on Sunday, May 20, 2024. We stood by the door for almost 5 mins before a lady that was standing 3 feet away us and talking to gentlemen the entire time, looked over at us as said "I be with you in a min". I thought they were another couple waiting to be seated. It was almost like we were inconveniencing her. Then we were told that it would take ten minutes to be seated. But it was more like 25. Then the lady finally walked up once she'd sat everyone else and told me that she called my name. She had not. But I didn't say anything. Next was the fact that when I attempted to order a margarita with an extra shot (Due to longhorns mixed drinks always being a bit watered down) We was told very rudely that it is there policy to only serve 1 drink at a time. The waiter was "1 Ole nasty Queen" with his attitude and responses literally laughing at us a couple of times very callously. We asked for another waiter to serve us, due to his attitude. He stated that he would just get the manager, but one never came, only a new waiter. The waiter that replaced him was amazing. He was super sweet and definitely saved the day The food was also delicious. If it wasn't for the rude host and the initial rude waiter the rating could have been much higher. Someone told me that Reading in general wasn't very friendly. But we are in Boston working and it was the closest longhorns to our hotel. Needless to say, we should have listened. It was a very uncomfortable meal. Didn't realize I needed to pull out the "Good Ole Green Book" while attempting to maneuver through Boston. Next time I know to follow the recommendations...
Read moreMy mother and i came in for lunch on Sunday April 7th The first thing that struck us was just how cold the restaurant was when we sat down in our booth, Not only where we complaining But two old men in the booth opposite of us were also complaining about the Air conditioning The manager came up with a lot of excuses about the air-conditioning being on during a 30° day
The service wasn’t much to speak of either, It seemed as if when we spoke, our waitress was severely confused Or just wasn’t paying attention
The stuffed mushrooms were very good But the rest of the meal wasn’t so great My mother ordered her 8oz Sirloin medium well and it came out medium rare, when she sent it back to the kitchen for a new one cooked correctly, the steak that came out was a V cut sirloin and very much smaller than what my mother had originally ordered as well as all fat And Completely inedible
From reading the reviews below mine Other people have complained about the same thing happening with the chef when they send back their steak, I believe that is unprofessional and if you’re paying for something you deserve it to be done correctly The restaurant was severely dirty And it needs a professional cleaning
I should’ve stuck with my mother‘s advice that we went to the Texas roadhouse instead of Longhorn steakhouse because we drove many miles for poor service and barely edible food
This was my treat to my mother Who soon will be going into surgery for a tumor on her throat
This Experience at Longhorn steakhouse Has put me off of ever...
