I love this place, if you haven't been yet, you need to try it! I have always been a big fan of fondue, and I wasn't introduced to hot pot, or shabu shabu until a couple of years ago. To put it simply, this cooking style is amazing, hands on, fun and delicious. Oh yeah, it can be nutritious as well.
The staff at IShabu Shabu makes me feel like family. I am always greeted by a smile and great service. The staff is very friendly and open to helping you navigate this cooking style, should it be your first time. The best part is, there is no wrong way to do it!
IShabu Shabu has really high quality ingredients and it is apparent that they take pride in this restaurant. From their friendly service to the family like feel of the restaurant. They set themselves apart from their competition in a couple of different ways. One being the house Barbecue sauce, I like a little hot oil and some garlic mixed in - try it! They now offer three cooking styles Traditional (lightly seasoned water- super healthy), Miso (pretty much just like the soup), and Sukiyaki (delicious, like a rich soy sauce-ish). They also use really high quality meats and veggies; the meat sliced, how i like it, a touch on the thicker side.
I travel, a lot, for work and I am constantly on the lookout for great restaurants. This one certainly fits the bill, and luckily it is right here in Redondo Beach. Last seating was at 8:30pm. Very few people in the restaurant by the way. We were clearly unhappy with the way we were greeted but did not argue we just left and got back in our vehicle to leave. As we were leaving we stopped and watched another couple park, walk in and get seated at the bar. I put the car in park and walked back in to ask them why we were told that they were closed and a couple after us were welcomed and served. We were then forced to spend 15$ on sides. 5 minutes later the server came and told us that her boss told her to tell us that we had to buy an additional item , โone that would be cooked in the brothโ.
