I came here after seeing the very high reviews, and drove right by it since I didn’t realize it was a food truck. Parking on a Wednesday night along the street was pretty tough but found a spot around the corner down the street (seems like there was a church service starting) I ordered ahead online and my food was ready when I arrived.
Ordered the vegetarian plate, chicken and steak plate, and a hibiscus tea. Veggie plate came with three large falafels (crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside) three dolmas (fresh and tangy) babaghanoush (my favorite, smoky and creamy) hummus with some sort of creamy sauce on it (I’m never impressed with hummus so it was standard), a couple of pickles (too salty for my taste but my bf liked them) and shredded lettuce and cabbage/raw onion mix.
For the chicken/beef plate I asked for extra hot sauce on the side but it came on top of the meat so it was too spicy for me to enjoy. The rice had good flavor and the pita was warm and soft but I couldn’t eat much of it. Also came with lettuce/cabbage/onions.
Hibiscus tea was very refreshing, I added club soda to it since I don’t like drinks too sweet and it was perfect. There were a few gritty bits that took me by surprise that I think might have been from the sugar? But it was delicious.
Overall, good value with the amount of food for slightly lower than usual Bay Area prices. I live in the city so would probably go back and try something else if I was...
Read moreI've been coming to Falafel and Things food truck for over a year and it never disappoints. The owner/chef Amir is world class and an even better person. The best Mediterranean/New York eats in the Bay Area. Ingredients are always fresh and all meals are made with love. I usually order the chicken and/or beef over rice which comes with vegetables and a naan type of bread on the side. There's a white and red sauce drizzled over the meat and rice which combines to an awesome blend of spice, texture, and taste. Meat is tender, juicy, and very flavorful. Vegetables on the side are fresh and delicious. I usually order the Lemon Hibiscus Tea (Not Pictured) to wash it all down. I've tried the baklava and it was also very good.
If you live in the Bay Area or visit the area, highly recommend eating at Falafel and Things. Call ahead orders are usually best since Amir can get quite busy during the day. Hours are very convenient and open 6 days a week. I will forever be a faithful Falafel and Things customer. Thank you for blessing the world with your art I look forward to the next...
Read moreThis is the BEST FOOD I’ve had! My wife and I live in San Francisco and have had some amazing food but we will drive about 40minutes to Redwood City for Falafel and Things! Amir is the owner and is great. My favorite plate to get is the NY chicken and beef gyro combo over rice. The chicken and beef are mouth watering just thinking about it and the rice is flavorful and savory. It also comes with pickled cabbage, lettuce salad, and marinated onions which are all packed with delicious flavors.
Another thing that I love here is the Falafel and Hummus. I believe this is his specialty. (Hence the name.) I have not had any like it! Do yourself a favor and order it!
Just last week we got a catering order from Amir and everyone was raving about it! Weather it was the Falafel, Hummus, Rice, Chicken & Beef, or the pickled cabbage they absolutely loved it! I’m excited to eat some more leftovers later. Thankyou Amir for the great food and great service and we will hopefully see...
