Flowing Tide Pub 7 — Restaurant in Reno

So my husband and I walked in and weren't sure if we seat ourselves or what area of the establishment was open to sit. No one greeted us when we walked in it was kinda odd people just stare at you. I guess you could tell we never been there by the looks as if we were the odd couple who stuck out for sure Lol! We finally decided to just grab a table and sit, wait for someone to come over. The young girl made her way to our table asked if we would like something to drink or did we need a minute. I told her I needed a moment as I was looking at the drink menu which was nothing to brag of nothing seemed worth trying really. I told her I'll have a margarita flavored she seemed confused so to keep it simple and not make it hard just a regular margarita please, over the rocks she asked, no blended. She didn't seem very outgoing for a wait staff person very dry and shy. Didn't suggest drinks or anything. We ordered our food my husband asked for wings sloppy extra and they were dry hardly any sauce on them at all. So asked for the extra wicked sauce that came in this little round container that usually holds ranch dressing. Definitely afraid to give sauce on the wings. Fish n chips were pretty good and cole slaw was tasty enough as well. Mid way through our server finally seemed to come out her shell a bit more checking on us. I received the bill and to crack a joke at her my husband and I asked if they took EBT she finally laughed made a joke back and walked away from laughing at my husband's comment. The bill was like $74 bucks so left her $13 tip not because the service was worth it but I understand working for tips as I work in a casino but also know it's called customer service for a reason. CONSUMER BEWARE - I had dinner with my family on 4/6/23 and had left a cash tip. Wrote cash on the merchant copy/tip line. On 4/8/23 received a notification from my bank that my original charge was updated to include a tip. I reached out immediately and was able to speak to a manager by the name of Emily who informed me she was able to locate my purchase but somehow mysteriously their merchant copy was nowhere to be found. She informed me she had requested a refund for the unauthorized tip amount and depending on my bank it would be returned most likely by weeks end. It is now 4/18/23 and nothing has been received. At this point, I only wanted my unauthorized tip amount but now management seems to be ignoring my calls.

IF management decides to contact me I will update this review but at this point it seems unlikely. PLEASE NOTE - Emily shared the server who attended me was a senior staff member so this was unusual/unexpected. Keep in mind the cash tip w/ the debit tip the server gave themselves a 40% tip.

04/18/23 2:00 PM - Updating to two stars - received a call from the bar manager who looked into my report. She was not made aware of what had occurred. Pending my refund for the tip amount. Once received will update review. Please keep in mind, I was a frequent customer. Service and food have always been great it's unfortunate this happened.

This review is mostly based on the rudeness of the staff. I raved about this place and have taken my family and clients here since it opened. I recently had a friend visiting from out of the country. She was denied entry to the establishment even being of age solely because she had a foreign ID. It was a government issued ID and the bartender/server let me know that it was “the law” that didn’t allow foreign IDs this is based either completely on the incompetence and illiteracy of the server or as he also stated “this is our rule” since I am certain this is not a state or National law I can only determine that it is a rule of the establishment that doesn’t allow foreign IDs. In a “tourist” city this seems absolutely absurd. Unless it’s a race issue. I really would not like to blame the establishment since I did not have this issue at the Flowing Tide location in Sparks or the South Meadows location.
