Today at 4:15 at Starbucks (Northtowne Ln location, Reno, NV), after a day of errands, we stopped by to grab a cold drink on our way out of town. When we pulled up and saw two police cars in the parking lot with 4 officers walking into Starbucks. We decided that we wanted to pay for their drinks. They stopped to talk to us, gave our friend’s daughter some stickers. This sweet little girl thought it was so cool to see a female officer! As we entered the store we walked up to the counter to order. I had a mask on because I was not sure if masks were needed to enter the store, but the rest of our group didn’t have a mask on. Other customers also did not have masks on. A staff member proceeded to tell the police officers standing behind us to put on their masks or leave. It was obvious that they were not welcomed. As they were leaving, the same staff member stated “Oh what they don’t think they have to wear masks because they are police officers?” And continued to speak poorly of those officers. At that point, I had already purchased gift cards for the officers and I was then asked what I wanted to order and I decided that I no longer wanted to purchase anything more than what I already had, I wanted to leave. All of the customers just stood and looked at each other like, really did that just happen?!?! Our group was visibly upset and left the store. Apparently it’s okay to be a complete jerk to whoever you want whenever you want. Congratulations , Miss Barista , on your outstanding customer service. You have just lost 4 customers, and while that might not seem like a big deal to you, your company should be appalled by your lack of respect and less than stellar personality. I know people will turn this into some debate stating “they should be wearing masks anyway...” However, this is not a mask debate, because if it was, staff would have asked every single customer in the store to put on their masks. This person clearly singled out law enforcement officers in hopes that they wouldn’t have to serve them. I get that some people don’t like law enforcement, but I would expect that people would at least have the decency to be professionals, at least while on the clock and representing a company. Apparently expectations need to be lowered. We left the store and went over to the officers to give them their gift cards and thank them for their dedication. We thanked them for their professionalism in this situation and wished them well. They took pictures with our friends daughter and gave her some awesome stickers! It made her day. Moral of this story: The world is ugly. Do your part to be a better human being. Don’t judge someone based on their profession or color of their skin. Stop being part of the problem when it comes to divide. Stop making every single thing about race, politics, or assuming every officer is evil. At the end of the day, you’re human, they are human. In that moment, these were officers grabbing coffee. They were not rude, no brutality, no us vs them, just grabbing coffee......and if you’re out and about and want to brighten someone’s day and still want to support Starbucks, go visit Miss Barista and the rest of the staff and show her some love. Compliment her, tell her something nice because she clearly needs some kindness sprinkled in her life! Thank you Reno Police Department and to all the first responders who continue to show up for your community everyday. We see you, we...
Read moreAfter no longing visiting the Starbucks in Lemmon Valley because not only did the service suck but none of their employees were friendly enough to even provide you with a greeting. So I decided to change Starbucks go to this one on Northtowne. First the drive-thru was the best drive-thru out of any Starbucks that I've ever visited in Reno. Stellar service and you would be in and out that drive-thru no matter how many cars were there in less than 5 minutes. Now you'll be lucky if you get through the entire drive-thru within 15 minutes because it seems as if they put the weakest link in the drive-thru who has to place every car on hold until they take the next order as if they have the inability to multitask. So I started going inside and it was great because when you walk in you would get a greeting from someone and people don't realize how much a simple hello could mean to a customer. Last week I had my order incorrect and they replaced it with no problems. Continued to come in daily for my daily treat but I walk in there today and not only did they look at me but didn't get a greeting or a smile and the person that was at the counter doing nothing but standing there watching me as we walked in decided to walk to the back as if I wasn't even there. Not "I'll be back". NOTHING! So we left. Thanks shift sup Ashlee. You deterred a customer...
Read moreThe veranda blonde roast brewed coffee gives me the extra energy and motivation I need to start each day! They didn't receive any holiday/seasonal pastries today for anyone headed to Starbucks hoping to order one of their phenomenal sugar plum cheese danishes. Highly reccommend getting it warmed because each bite literally just melts in your mouth. I worked for starbucks for a few years and my opinion hasn't changed at all since my first bite.
To anyone with a major sweet tooth, add the cranberry bliss bar to the top of your To Try list this season. That is, of course whenever they decide to make an entrance into the pastry case. I do not recommend this to anyone with any type of tooth sensitivity.
That being said, the drive thru line was quick and the barista at the window was very sweet.
For all the early risers and night owls lucky enough to be awake in the early hours before dawn: the south side of the Home Depot parking lot directly across from Starbucks is a worthwhile spot to park your car, watch the sun rise over the mountains and over all of Reno, sip your coffee and relax for a moment before you start your day. 100% worth losing a little bit...
