I visited the casino for the first time this weekend, for my birthday. My husband booked us a suite with a bay view and wanted to take me to a steak dinner at Sage. Upon arrival, we were blatantly ignored by several employees who were within 10 feet of the reservation desk. These people appeared to be hosts or management, not servers. Rather than acknowledge our arrival and offer us any assistance they continued talking and laughing, it was clear that they saw us and chose to ignore us. We waited nearly 10 minutes, my husband eager to please me on my birthday. Finally, we decided to seat ourselves and again waited many minutes before we were acknowledged. Rather than being greeted and offered any assistance, or menus, we were talked to in a very condescending tone. The rude and supercilious gentleman seemed irritated at our presence, and after learning that we did not have a reservation he loudly exclaimed that it was "not a seat yourself establishment!", this was done publicly rather than discreetly. We explained that we had waited at the reservation desk for an excessive amount of time before seating ourselves, which he disregarded. At this point, he completely ignored us and helped another customer who had just walked in. When he could finally condescend to speak with us, we were told that there were no reservations until 9 p.m., nearly 2 hours later. His imperious attitude seemed aimed at embarrassing and humiliating us as if we were low-class citizens who were not fit to be in the restaurant. We are not low class and had more than enough money to spend in that establishment. After that treatment, my husband declared that we would spend our money elsewhere. This was my birthday surprise from my husband, dinner at the finest steak restaurant around, and we drove nearly 100+ miles to get there. If reservations are required, the Odawa Hotels casino information should include that detail, and it should be clearly posted at the restaurant as well. Additionally, if you do not want people to seat themselves, 1. greet and help them when they come in, especially when it's obvious that you see them, 2. perhaps have a sign that says please wait...
Read moreWent 5/19/18. This was our 2nd visit to the restaurant, we went the prior year. The first time we went it was wonderful and we agreed we would come back every year, we go to that area once a year. This time was a totally different story! We have now agreed we will not be back. I ordered soup as my meal, corn chowder. The menu listed Hungarian paprika as an ingredient so I knew it would have a little bite to it. However when it arrived it had so much paprika in it the soup looked reddish. I could not eat it so I just ate the bread they served with dinner. The waitress didn't even say anything when she cleared my still full bowl. My husband ordered a tomahawk steak. When it arrived it was cooked well done and was very tough. They must not have tenderized the meat prior. He ate about 1/3 of it. The waitress asked if he wanted to take it with him and he said "no because it was so tough I couldn't even eat it". She simply said okay and took it away. So we spent $100 on dinner that we hardly even ate. In hindsight we should have asked for the manager but we were so ready to get out of there..... it took forever for everything. It was 20 minutes before we got bread and it was 1 hour& 15 minutes after that before we got our food. We knew it would be a bit for the food because of the size of a tomahawk steak but this was a...
Read moreUpon walking in we were asked if we had a reservation . We didn’t - but were told the bar was available for open seating. (Everything happens for a reason!!) We sat at the bar rail and Erica was our bartender. She was excellent. Very attentive to our drinks and brought us fresh bread right away. They did offer a special menu for the lounge (bar) area which looked good. Fried calamari with the sauce it came with was 10/10…my fiancé is still talking about the seafood chowder a week later! He loved it! I had higher hopes for the garlic mash but it was still good!! Prime rib , NY strip, house salad (the dressing!!) we’re delicious!
The vibe was exactly what we were looking for ! We were the first couple to sit and by the time we left the place was full. With it getting busy right after we sat down we still got the best service!! We could tell our food was brought out the second is was ready by Erica herself, with every dish being timed perfectly. There were never too many plates in front of us.
Ilah wasn’t our server but she was nice and very funny.
Kind of expensive, but definitely worth it !! We will...
