My poor review is because when my mother in law and I walked in with 4 children and 1 young adult. The hostess/server greeted us by saying “Oh I get why you’re here” and we were confused because we are not from the area so we weren’t sure what he meant. He then pointed to the chalk board behind the counter that read “Kids Eat free on Tuesdays”. We laughed and thought it was pure luck, because that was NOT why we were there that night. We are very much capable of paying for $5 kids meals.

We got seated and ordered water because the kids had been eating and drinking sugary foods and drinks all day (they are on vacation after all). As I walked to the restroom I heard the male server who seated us tell our main server, “7 waters and 4 are kids.. you’re going to hate it..”

I immediately felt unworthy of being in a Bob Evan’s. What a crummy way to hear that you and your families presence isn’t wanted.

Then instead of our server just greeting herself she immediately said, “THE FREE KIDS MEALS IS ONLY WHEN YOU ORDER THEM ONLINE AND PICK THEM UP.” We were confused because of what the hostess had said but we didn’t question it because we didn’t go there for free kids meals we just wanted to eat dinner as a family. We went ahead and ordered our food, which took almost an hour to come out. While waiting for biscuits appetizers (that didn’t come until well after the dinner was served) we saw on the kids menu that the Free kids meal on Tuesdays is for IN STORE ONLY. She lied to our faces and then made our kids wait over an hour for pancakes and biscuits.

I get taking your frustrations out on adults because your store was caught lying and being rude but how horrible to take it out on 4...

This is the worst Bob evens I have ever gone to. Before I even get into the food let me say when a waiter plays a inside joke on you that you are not in on it really quite makes you angry 😡 We had the staff at the register and apparently we were there inside funny for the day. Then tricked me saying the money was under the mat. Like they lost our cash tip. Very very unpleasant and unprofessional. Period. I got to say iv never had such a unpleasant experience at a Bob evens. My waiter she kept giving me nasty looks and when I was ordering making a cring face every time I'd go to order it was very unsettling and distracted me to say the least. Listen guys idk who was cooking in there that day but this food was so gross. It was extremely overcooked. My hasbrowns were like plastic So hard I couldn't bite them. The eggs were also undercooked and I got a western omelet which is also had completely all raw vegetables in it all my onions peppers were raw. Coffee was also very old and gross tasting like they don't clean their coffee pot. Food was not worth 40.00 for 2 meals by the end of this me and my husband were upset and have now vowed to not come there for a year due to its horrible services. Really just a terrible experience. Might as well close this one down. Too bad. It was areal big thing to have Bob Evans in our town. Many of us were return patrons. This past year we have tried three separate times to eat at your restaurant in Petoskey and left without being seated. Each time cleared and set up tables were visible from the wait area. This time we couldn’t be seated because they decided to seat us in “five minutes until the waiter was ready to take on another table” What does that even mean? And the hostess had to have a talk with two other employees who were doing nothing and then came back with that answer. There are much more choices in the area now for restaurants. We left and made a better choice. We understand short- staff since the Covid 19 outbreak. But there were 3 employees….doing nothing. Train your people on all positions if that’s the issue. When more than half your dining room is empty and your staff turns people away. Heck with trying it again. It’s sad as I said. I’m sure this one could go back to being a striving restaurant if ever you figure out why the huge turnover of employees. Sunday December 17 2023...
