Taco John's — Restaurant in Rice Lake

While the food is good. They always seem to forget my salsas. They always seem really confused when it comes to online ordering. Everywhere has one. I would think it would make their job easier and make it harder to forget things ordered. But it still happens anyway.

Update 2024: Nothing has changed in the last year, and they still always forget the salsa and hot sauce packets.

Update 2025: This time, I received my salsas and taco sauce. But, there is still very much confusion on mobile ordering. Placed order before we left Menards. Rolled up to the drive thru, and it seemed promising so far because I was told they received it and to pull ahead. By the time I got to the drive thru window. They once again seemed very confused about my order because they were going to give me the order for the car behind me because it was that cars order. Well, here we go again a year later. They told me to park by the door and wait. The 3 cars that were behind me in line got their food and left, and more time passed until someone finally came out and gave me my order. So ordering by mobile app at this taco johns is much, much slower than doing it at the drive thru. I would think it should make the order process easier. At least in my mind. Oh, well. There's too many deals on the app to order straight from the drive thru. Maybe...

I can't speak on the service or atmosphere, because I ordered DoorDash.

I had the beef burrito with a side of refried beans with added cheese.

Lets start with the good, the refried beans were nice and creamy. Mixed with a flavorful red sauce and melty cheese? These were fantastic.

The Burrito on the other hand, was this sad, smooshed little thing.

The tortilla was nice, not soggy and well put together meaning no mess as I was eating it. However, looking back that might also be due to the lack of...well...much of anything in the way of ingredients in the burrito. I understand, restaurants operate on a razor thin margin and things aren't cheap now a days, but I almost feel robbed eating this burrito. Barely any meat, I had to look hard to see any cheese. I suppose what was in there was pretty good, though. Not greasy or slimy, and what little cheese was in there was melted.

Overall? It was meh. I suppose if you need a quick, cheap bite and tacos are your thing than this will do until you can grab something better, later. Maybe I'll try something different from the menu next time around and see if...

Most of the tables where filthy, I saw at least 4 workers and 2 people waiting for food in seating area. The containers that they use to put the food in isn't recyclable product. Big, no no for food industry's for reviewers. I was discussed at who they hired and scheduled to work with this one younger gentleman in back that seemed to be running around delivering food in the seating area, he look distraught and ready to quite. While at least 4 others cashier, drive through, food line Took time to stare off into space or a fly buzzing around picking their nose and talk to them selves and others, I yelled out to this young man that came out from the back to deliver someones meal. "You should get a raise!" HE AGREED AND SMILED HOLDING HIS COMPOSURE. Management should be ashamed at them selves to put a good employee in...
