Home-Slice Pizza Shop & Drive Thru is one of the newest pizza places to open in the South Suburbs; Homewood IL to be exact. I had the pleasure of meeting the owner and he was a great guy and a gentleman. He shared with me the journey and risk he decided to take opening his location. With his compassion and dedication to his vision, I knew the pizza would be delicious, and it truly is. The meatballs were amazing as well. The pizza has a retro taste that reminds you when pizza was actually good. Home Slice pizza shop and drive thru doesn't cut any corners when creating a pizza you can truly enjoy. To put their pizza to the ultimate test. I had the opportunity to have some leftover pizza and tossed it in the microwave and after reheating it, it was still as delicious as when I originally bought it. Home Slice Pizza Shop and Drive Thru definitely will take you back to a time when pizza was pizza. Recently I had a opportunity to try one of the cold cut sub sandwiches and that was top chart as well. I highly suggest checking out Home Slice Pizza Shop and drive thru to give yourself a change of pace from the regular pizza places in the area. Five stars from me on the pizza, five stars on the meatballs and another five stars for the sub sandwiches (Italian combo that is). Also they have adult gaming there too, so you get a chance to win some money...
Read moreWhen they first opened a few years back, I tried them out - but wasn't impressed. Mostly because their "old" pizza seemed to simply be Home Run Inn frozen pizzas in disguise. It was a common complaint so I was sure they wouldn't be in biz long.
Here we are a few years later and my wife & I couldn't figure out how they could still be in biz, so I checked out the latest reviews. There were enough new positive reviews - particularly about the pizza - that we decided to check them out.
I gotta give it to Home Slice - much improved!
I don't know who's idea it was to get rid of the Home Run Inn, but good decision. The new pizza is great (not that Home Run isn't)! One slice w/can of pop for about 6 bucks is a pretty good deal considering the slice is pretty nice sized. Home Run is great as its own, but the new pizza is an improvement simple because it doesn't taste like I can just buy it from the frozen aisle. It's crispy on the bottom, a little chewy on top, zesty sauce, plenty cheese. It was good!
I applaud the restaurant with their change. It's like night & day. I'd happily stop buy again whenever the mood for a slice strikes....

This is simply a place that sells a cooked frozen pizza, passing themselves off as a pizza place. The frozen pizza is neither bad nor good, but also isn't what anyone goes to a pizza place to get. I would have been happier with poor quality fresh pizza; at least that would have been a B+ for effort.
The price is very much in line with what you get. $5.99 for two slices and a can of a Pepsi product, so you can't fault them for the pricing strategy.
Bonus - the menu board you order from has a category called "Deserts". I'm always a fan of unintended misspellings, and it saved the place from getting two stars.
Update - Changing to 1 star - All the generically bland 5 star reviews here appear to be faked - there's no way anyone would give this place five stars. Consider my 1 star review to offset...
