Bilad's Bakery: A Hidden Gem of Heavenly Bites

From the moment you step into Bilad's Bakery, you're wrapped in the warm, inviting aroma of freshly baked bread, spices, and sweet delights. This place isn’t just a bakery—it’s a full-blown flavor sanctuary.

The mana’eesh is the star of the show—flaky, golden dough baked to perfection, generously spread with za’atar, cheese, or spicy sujuk. Each bite is a melody of crisp, chewy, and savory, with just enough olive oil to make it feel indulgent.

Their falafel wraps are crispy on the outside, tender inside, and packed with flavor—paired with pickles and creamy tahini that dance together in every bite. If you’re lucky enough to catch their freshly baked baklava still warm, consider your day made. Buttery, nutty, and soaked in just the right amount of syrup—it’s a masterclass in Middle Eastern dessert.

What truly sets Bilad’s apart is the authenticity. This isn’t trend-chasing food—it’s real, soulful, made with love and tradition. The staff treats you like family, always smiling, always ready to recommend something new (and you’ll want to try everything).

Whether you're grabbing a quick bite or stocking up for a feast, Bilad’s Bakery is a place you return to—not just for the food, but for the feeling. It’s warmth, comfort, and flavor all in one bite.

Final Verdict: 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Flavorful. Authentic. Absolutely...

recently had the pleasure of dining at Bilad Restaurant & Bakery in Richardson, and I must say it was an exceptional experience! As an Iraqi spot serving delicious Middle Eastern and Mediterranean cuisine, Bilad truly stands out.

During my visits, I tried both the beef and chicken shawarma, and they were some of the best I’ve ever tasted. The perfectly seasoned meat, combined with their freshly baked Iraqi bread, made each bite a delight. Their mouthwatering spicy sauce added an extra kick of flavor.

The restaurant was bustling on a Saturday afternoon, and although we had to wait a bit for a table, it was well worth it. The friendly staff greeted us with smiles, making us feel right at home. No wonder Bilad made it onto D Magazine’s 2023 List of 50 Best Restaurants in Dallas!

And here’s a bonus: Bilad offers vegetarian options and serves halal meat. So whether you’re a meat lover or prefer plant-based dishes, you’ll find something to satisfy your cravings.

If you’re in Richardson, don’t miss out on this gem. Bilad Bakery & Restaurant is a must-visit for foodies seeking authentic flavors and exceptional service. 🥙👏

I recently visited a shawarma restaurant and was thoroughly impressed with my experience. The restaurant was clean and well-maintained, with a warm and inviting atmosphere. The staff were friendly and attentive, making me feel welcome from the moment I walked in.

The shawarma itself was absolutely delicious, with tender and flavorful meat, fresh vegetables, and a perfect blend of spices. The portion size was generous, and I left feeling satisfied and full.

In addition to the shawarma, the restaurant also offered a variety of sides and appetizers, including hummus, falafel, and tabbouleh. Each dish was expertly prepared and tasted fresh and flavorful.

One thing that really stood out about this restaurant was the affordable prices. Despite the high quality of the food and the comfortable atmosphere, the prices were very reasonable, making it a great option for a casual meal or a quick bite on the go.

Overall, I highly recommend this shawarma restaurant to anyone looking for delicious Middle Eastern cuisine. The food is top-notch, the staff are friendly and attentive, and the prices are affordable. I would give this restaurant a solid 4-star rating and look forward to visiting again...

We went there on Saturday afternoon after repeatedly hearing about it from so many people and boy we were not disappointed. The place was busy and to top it off we had to wait for almost an hour since we were party of six. That wait however, was so worth it. We ordered chicken shawarma plate and chicken shawarma wrap. That plate was one of the best shawarma plate I have had. The rice was soft and moist enough to retain its taste this not wanting one to water it down and chicken was shredded but not paper thin. It was soft and tender as if melting in mouth with just the right level of spice. Humus was good too. While I am biased towards humus offered at Ali Baba, this was humus that I would have again and pay for it. Service was exceptional and their turnaround fast. As you walk in, you get the feel of a small authentic joint run by family in NYC and it certainly lives up to that. Having been in business since 1978 (or before) in Iraq and now operating in Richardson, their taste and service is testament that simple fresh and tasty menu delivered with good service is sure to ensure an exceptional customer experience. For sure going back and recommending others too !!!

If you rate them on food quality, freshness and taste (things I am most focused on), then based on the things we have tried so far, this place is a 5 star. We had a weekday breakfast (probably the best time, as there were no other customers)... But staff was very busy 9am on Friday, as they make a lot of bread for other places, so there were piles of packed bread (round pita and Iraqi) getting delivered or ready to be delivered. We ordered from breakfast menu, - Fattet Hummus - Egg with Cheese (came with round pita) - teapot Each item was fresh and tasted really good. Even the pita is not like regular pita you find in grocery stores (it was fresh and fluffy). Loved their black tea. Staff was polite and brought the right order... But took longer than expected, as there were no other customers (I guess they were making it all fresh so took longer :) ) Besides the food, it is an oldish, traditional place, so don't expect a lot of fanciness.

Generous portions, amazing falafel. Great kabob. Great chicken shawarma. The beef shawarma smell was a bit strong, it seems they make their own shawarma meat as it's flavor/consistency/texture is different than all other gyros I've had anywhere. Their olive oil and zaatar dipping sauce is great. So are their yogurt based dipping sauces for the meats. Their hummus is classic arabic flavor, a little bland/home made compared to other places. The baba ganush tastes much more home made than other places and may not be what some people are looking for.
