First time trying golden chick. Wanted to badly to like this place. Food looked good, like classic family style fried chicken meals like kfc had in the 90s. But the food was just not good. Fried chicken is unseasoned. Not sure what it is with dfw and unseasoned fried chicken, but this place, chicken express and williams tastes exactly the same. Just like unseasoned, unsalted chicken that tastes solely of fryer grease. The sides were not great either. Their "award winning" fried are the nasty battered type like you find at burger king and taste the same - like faintly old fry grease. Corn in corn nuggets had the texture of chopped up eraser bits and I have had better corn nuggets at chinese buffets. Jalapeno poppers kind of small. Chicken salad by the award winning chef looked promising, and it was amazing the first bite but it rapidly got grosser with every new bite as the overwhelming flavor of mayo took over. Might win awards in the 60s, which isnwhere it feels like this recipe comes from. Dirty rice is weird and almost like a scoop of sludge. The rice grains are basically indistinguishable and the flavor, ambiguous. Their baked chicken, however was damn good but baked chicken is so easy to make there is no reason to even buy it. Rolls are bomb too. Their spicy chicken sandwich is just a regular chicken sandwich with a splotch of pepper powder mix on top, so not every bite is spicy, yet another disappointment. The free doft serve also tasted super strange, unlike any I have ever tasted, and I have eaten plenty at even the sketchiest of chinese buffets.
Also the bathroom here bugged me. The urinal was seriously a foot away from the sink, and installed at a similar height... With no divider. Ummm....
Still waiting for bojangles to make its way to the heart of dfw. Because there is no good fried chicken down here. Popeyes is barely tolerable. While thisnplace isnt dirty or run down or badly run, the food is just not good. Golden chick...

I purchased the special (20pc tenders, 5 rolls and gravy); I added 2 family sides (green beans and macaroni & cheese). I was tired and exhausted from moving. I was using DART/#238 South Garland bus to get to the Arapaho DART Station, ; therefore, I was pressed for time. Mr. Darrel is always professional, informative and courteous when I come to the store. I took the young lady's word that the order was correct and I exited to catch my bus. Upon getting home, other things related to moving took my full attention and I finally noticed the order was incorrect. It had macaroni and cheese and mashed potatoes and gravy but no rolls. I knew I had to come to the Post Office (Belle Grove Road) the next day, so I thought I would drop by and puck up my green beans and rolls. I was surprised when the female manager, refused honor my request. I had my receipt. This kind of service speaks volumes about the company's values and how much they value the customer. I experienced a situation with Chili's (Casa Linda) in 1984. I have never set foot in any Chili's since and I made it my mission to keep business partners, family and friends away from Chili's. Golden Chick doesn't realize that they aren't the only company selling chicken. We all know and love Chick-fil-A (Down to earth company with a heart), Raising Canes, Chicken Express, Popeyes and I could go on....It would the LORD GOD coming from Heaven and telling me to do business with Golden Chick before I would ever give my money to a company who calls me a...
Read moreWent to the new location in South Dallas near Fair Park and got the worst meal I've ever experienced from this company!!!! The "chicken" pieces were unrecognizable!! The corn fritters were a total of SIX overcooked (or under the heat lamp for hours) pieces of batter with maybe one kernel of corn (or some deep fried foreign object).
I called Corina (or Karina [unsure of spelling]), the Store Manager and she apologized and said to take her name, come back and place an order of my choice, and it would be comped. That's it. Nothing else was apart of her requirements. No time limit, no receipt needed, not required to order the same thing -- NOTHING! I even asked what else needed to be done and was assured it would be taken care of at the mention of her name.
Today I attempted to make good on that offer and was told by Merriam (a manager on duty, I'm assuming), along with other employees that I needed the receipt after calling Corina on the phone while I waited in the drive thru. I asked to speak to Corina and was told she was off and I could come back tomorrow. (She's already on the phone so is she off?..or just off for me?)
No one is driving all the way back home to search for a receipt from a couple of weeks ago (I was in the hospital for a week, so that's why it had been so long before I returned), not to even be CERTAIN that the food would be any better!
All in all, horrible food accompanied by unprofessional, sheisty business practices is more than enough reasons for me to NEVER return and to suggest to anyone else that is considering this...
