Happy Lemon — Restaurant in Richardson

I really had high hopes for this place. I ordered 6 drinks and all but one were disappointing. I ordered: Matcha Latte w/ Tiramisu Salted Cheese Fresh Dragon Fruit Lychee Juice w/Salted Cheese Boba Milk Tea Green Milk Tea Ube Milk Tea w/Taro Puff cream & Taro Balls Freshly Squeezed Lemon Black tea.

I also ordered all of these 50% sweetness since all of my family do not like super sweet drinks. I have never had an issue with any other places taste/flavor because of sweetness adjustment.

The Matcha Latte was just a no go. Maybe it was the combo w/ Tiramisu. It was so rich but the taste was nothing from the Matcha. It kind of tasted like a bad taste of chocolate gone wrong. Like it was almost a burnt taste.

Dragon Fruit drink was the one I was most excited for and it just tasted like the cheap Chapstick.

Boba Milk Tea and the Green Milk Tea was okay. Not the best I have tasted but its drinkable. I felt like it was more milk and really had to search for a taste of tea. ​

Ube milk tea was also okay but I could not finish more than 1/4 of it. Taro Balls were good though!

Fresh squeezed lemon black tea was the best one. Refreshing, not too sweet or tart. This is probably the only drink I would go for, but not sure if its worth 5.75 a cup.

Customer service was great and friendly. The place is really cute as well and I can see potential if they improve...

I wouldn't say the wait time for the grand opening is indicative of how much time you'd have to wait in the future (especially with the BOGO free deal), but I can definitely see there being some sort of line because Happy Lemon is one of the most anticipated boba shops to arrive in Dallas. This location tastes like all of their other locations in the US that I have tried, and for that I cannot be more happy.

I ordered only their recommended drinks, and they are recommended for good reason. My absolute number one favorite drink to get here is the black tea with salted cheese. I typically like black milk tea, but the cheese acts like the "milk" lol. If you like a green tea base, that with salted cheese is good as well. We also tried the Ube Milk Tea w/Taro Puff Cream and Taro Balls (pretty thick and heavy with ube flavor, but taro balls were very good like taro pearls), Mango Green Tea with Mango Boba (very good, but mango boba was like mango crystal boba), Fresh Passion Fruit Mango Green Tea (good if you're a fan of passion fruit and chewing the seeds lol), and Mango Yakult Smoothie (just amazing - great texture and has mango bits in it).

All their drinks are in the same size (large). The regular pearls are very chewy, but aren't sweetened.
