My visit to a Colombian restaurant recently was a mixed experience, to say the least. The highlight of the meal, unexpectedly, was not the food but the service. The staff was attentive and provided excellent customer service, which was a refreshing aspect of the dining experience.
Unfortunately, the culinary offerings did not live up to expectations. The chicken, a staple in any Colombian cuisine, was disappointing. It seemed as though the only seasoning used was salt, lacking the rich blend of spices and flavors one would anticipate in Colombian cooking. This resulted in a dish that was not only underwhelming in taste but also did not reflect the culinary heritage it was meant to represent.
Equally disheartening were the sides of rice and beans, both of which were poorly executed. The rice lacked the fluffiness and flavor that could have complemented the main dish, while the beans were far from the savory, comforting staple I had hoped for. Both sides failed to elevate the meal, leaving much to be desired in terms of authenticity and taste.
Despite the disappointing food, the service staff did their utmost to provide a pleasant dining experience. Their efforts were the sole redeeming quality of the visit, showcasing their commitment to customer satisfaction even when the dishes did not meet expectations.
In conclusion, while the service at this Colombian restaurant was commendable, the food was a letdown. The chicken, rice, and beans did not capture the essence of Colombian cuisine, which is known for its rich flavors and hearty dishes. It's a reminder that great service can only go so far in compensating for culinary...
Read more**This review is based on the service only, we didn’t have the chance to experience the food. My husband is from Bogota so we were extremely excited to try a new Colombian restaurant. Based on the reviews I thought we would have an amazing experience. We patiently waited in the front and sat ourselves. Two people who worked there made eye contact with us and didn’t bother greeting us, smiling or telling us to sit. We then sat for another 15 min while the server looked at us several times and didn’t bother greeting us or at least walk over to tell us that she’ll be with us shortly. She was doing this to most tables except a big party that was close to the kitchen. She only seemed to cater to them the entire time and couldn’t multitask. There was an elderly couple that sat before us and she hadn’t even bothered to take their drink order. I’m sure they were there a lot longer than us. Everyone looked annoyed because they were trying to flag anyone down to get refills, etc. it seems extremely unorganized. My husband suggested that we leave and go Eat Salvadorian food in the same strip mall. So disappointed because I really wanted Colombian food. Sad that they don’t care enough to at least offer the basics when it comes to decent customer service. I’ll change my review if we ever decide to give it another chance
**Thank you to the owner who cared and took the time to respond. We will give this place another try and will definitely change my review once we have had the chance to really...
Read moreThere aren’t many options in the metroplex for authentic Colombian cuisine, so I often have to commit to a long drive if I’m in the mood for it. I had seen that this La Cacerola had recently opened close to home and decided to stop by and give it a try.
Let me start off with my opinion that La Cacerola is terribly overpriced. I understand there are several factors pushing food prices up at the moment but the quality of the food in this restaurant does NOT justify the price. You can directly compare the food prices from La Cacerola with other Colombian restaurants in town that have better dishes and come to the same conclusion that you are not getting the best bang for the buck here.
One major detail that brings me back to Colombian restaurants is that they usually have an assortment of delicious, fresh baked breads. This restaurant does not bake their breads in-house and this always results in a noticeable difference in quality.
Another MAJOR thing that was lacking was the traditional Latin hospitality that you’ll often see at most family-owned restaurants; in other words, the service was disappointingly poor. This is the primary reason I won’t be back. The owner needs to realize that if you are already struggling to meet the basics of running a restaurant; greeting, seating, and taking orders then your restaurant is...
