I would first like to start off with I have been coming to jalapenos for the last 4 years I have seen a decline in almost every aspect. Today was the last straw. I order in your restaurant about once a week sometimes twice I normally get my orders to go due to the decline in service. Well today I order my food and I ask the person who took my order to please make sure they did not forget anything last couple of time I’ve order they have forgotten things. I went in and asked for my food when I saw the bag I asked if they only give a small bag of chip for 4 dinners he gave me an attitude I just kinda let it go then the bartender take my card and charges 30 dollars which I new was wrong I gave him back my receipt and he tells me me that my card did not work and mind you in a very rude and loud way I go get my phone in my car and check to see if it was my card and I ask him to please run it and he tells me no. well I have gave him a piece of my mind. Then I give my card to the manager and he tells me it’s my bank I ask to speak to the owner and he tells me that it is Him then he goes off to insults telling me that I need to be an adult. I was shocked of course. I could not believe he was the owner. I have been in costumer service the last 20 year I also managed mexican restaurant for 8 years. I know how to treat a customer. I completely lost my temper and Im disappointed in my self for that I do apologize for the seen once they both got so nasty. They both made nasty comments to me. I could not believe how I was treated . I felt attacked. I had just used my card he runs it and guess what it worked. The cost of the food was 60.00 I know I was underdressed and maybe I looked like I had no money and for the bar tender to start all of this and the manager \ owner. Sad I will be telling all my friends an military friends to not support this restaurant in Richmond hill. It was once a wonderful place to eat at spent lots of birthdays...
Read moreI was really disappointed in this place, and really surprised that I didn't like it after all the great reviews. First I will start with the Positive. The salsa is amazing. The portions for the kids cheeseburger was actually bigger than some of the other food that we ordered. Our waitress was friendly ( I'm sorry I left such a bad tip, I left in a bad mood!). However, when our food arrived it was cold. My wife ordered something that was rice and different kinds of meat and it was very greasy and had very little rice. I ordered a lunch special number 4 and asked if I could replace the chile relleno with another taco. The waitress said that I could. However, when I received the bill I was charged $3 more for having the replacement. I went and spoke with somebody about it who passed me off to somebody else, who passed me off to somebody else, who got my waitress, and then I ended up speaking to somebody at the bar. He told me that I could not get a substitution. I told him that I was not aware of that in the waitress did get me a substitution but charge me more. We went around in circles and he was very condescending, confrontational, and sarcastic. I was very calm the whole time. He ended up taking $2 off, but when I told him that it was still a dollar more than what I had ordered, he sarcastically said" seriously"? It's not like I couldn't afford the extra dollar but it was the principle of the whole thing. I kept trying to explain to him that it made no sense that I was charged more because of the waitress's mistake ( he said that she was new so she didn't know any better). I just told him that I was going to give her less of a tip then and he told me to go ahead. Again, I'm sorry I left a smaller tip for her. She was very nice. I'm also upset, again, that my experience wasn't better because it seems like everybody else really loves this place. So take my review with a grain of salt. It could have just been an off day...

The most recent time our family went. We ordered one kids meal for my two kids to split and a meal each for my husband and me. I ordered a juice for my son, as the menu said the kids meals came with a drink. Waitress brought out the wrong type of juice. Not a huge deal, my son still drank it so didn't say anything. When the food came waitress brought out an extra taco for the kids. I didn't say anything, knowing I'd probably be paying for it even tho we didn't order it but we'd eat it for leftovers so whatever. Husband's refried beans were also cold, but since our kids were fidgety we said nothing.
When the check comes I noticed they charged me for the juice. I asked the waitress about this and she said that kids meals only come with a soft drink, not a juice. I told her in the past I was always able to order a juice and it was included and that no where on the menu did it specify the drink was a soft drink only. She said she'd ask her manager and I said ok. The waitress then brought over the manager (who I hadn't asked for) who became very rude when I told him what had happened and how it was never an issue in the past. That the menu literally says "kids meals include a drink", not "kids meal includes a soft drink". (They are the same price, we didn't get refills, and every other place with a kids drink includes juice in their kids drink selection). He was extremely rude about the whole thing and walked off in the middle of me explaining about it being included in the past and how the menu didn't specify. I wasn't trying to cause an issue, but their behavior created one for me. We won't be going back there any time soon after the way we were treated. Completely uncalled for. They used to be the best in town...
