I went to my first First Friday’s and stopped by Auntie Nings! They had super crispy flavourful beef lumpia (longer ones)! I was also suprised at how delicious the veggie lumpia’s (shorter ones) were too since there was no meat! Don’t forget to eat it with the sauce it comes cause u can never get too saucey. They were super helpful & informative since I was so indecisive about what to order between the chicken adobo and pancit. They offered to accommodate and gave me the chicken adobo and pancit together in one portion instead! Matamis is also sold alongside Ning’s which they have some bakery items! I got the red velvet and the chocolate cookie with the gummy worm! My friend got the bar with the purple and it melts in ur mouth and isn’t too chocolately where it itches my throat but the perfect amount where it’s still like creamy 😀 Her instagram page @matamisrva also has more pictures of desserts and custom orders which i’ll definitely have to check out! Hopefully I’ll be able to go to their pop ups again! Hoping I can try the Ube cheesecake from Matamis next time and the Lechon from Auntie Ning’s!

Amazing food! Picked up at Market on Meadow, which was very easy, and my whole family was so happy with the food!! Really loved the lumpia (both veggie and meat), the empanadas, and the Pancit glass noodles cooked in bone broth in particular. Get extra lumpia and empanadas so everyone has multiple, they are that good. The Kaldereta beef dish and the Lechon Kawali were also delicious. I really recommend getting the garlic fried rice with your orders and adding on the side of grilled vegetables as well - the veggies were only $3 but were a big serving! Spoke with the owner when part of my order that I’d scheduled ahead of time was out of stock, and he not only communicated directly with me but also gave me extra food to make up for it! 10/10 delicious food, great business.

Asked for recommendations from the employees and they did not disappoint. Food was flavorful and filling. Friendly, down to earth folks. I know the family personally and Fred is a cool dude making his family proud. I can tell everything is cooked with love. Close to VCU. Students please pull up & visit.

Love this place and never had issues with the food or service until yesterday. Called in to place a carry out order for just a breakfast bowl and the person who answered attempted to get me off the phone and place it online. I asked (some guy named Scott) why I can't place it through phone then he sighed as if it was a problem then reluctantly took my order. I also stated that I wanted the order to be picked up by 12pm. I get there at 12pm and I see 3 male and 2 female employees. Scott tells me itll be just 2 minutes and yet I walk out with my order over 20 minutes later. There was an awkward tension as I as Scott rung me up knowing the mistake and poor service he gave, and never even said sorry or gave compensation. This was an incredibly disappointing and frustrating situation, as I didnt even have time to eat it for lunch as to what I even stated through phone. I love it there but not enough to recommend or return to with employees like Scott at the helm with 4 others who won't assist him either. And Im sure this was all due to requesting the order through the phone than rather doing it online. A petty and sad...

Edit: Though I had a bad experience at their food truck, their owner did reach out to me directly trying to fix the situation and provided excellent customer service. I will also note that while the experience was bad at the food truck, the food was still delicious. I will give them another shot and hope for better experience next time.

Just visited the food truck at the Bryant Park Farmer's Market. Said I would receive a text upon the order being ready. Waited 25 minutes before asking where the food was. I was then told they didn't make it because they ran out of my chosen protein. Well that would have been nice to know instead of waiting to find out. They then made it with a separate protein but forgot to include the eggs. I had to go back another time. Some empty apologies but that was it. Not a great experience considering it's not the cheapest food...
