Went to Demi's for the first time tonight. I have heard so many good is things about it. As it turns out, it was good, but I was underwhelmed. There was a 40 minute wait, so we ate at the bar and the only name of the server I can see on our receipt is Bar 7. You can't miss him though. He's gorgeous. My husband and I shared an order of sautéed calamari. Served with sun-dried tomatoes, garlic and lemon, the dish was really good. The calamari was tender with very little "chew." For entrees, I had the Shrimp Santorini and he had the Pastichio. Our two friends had the penne pasta with Gorgonzola and peas and the roasted chicken. This is where the restaurant fell a bit short. My friend seemed to enjoy his Gorgonzola pasta. My other friend got his chicken and it was swimming in some kind of creamy sauce, which was not noted on the menu. He is a very healthy eater, and the cream sauce turned him off quite a bit. He most likely would not have ordered it if it had been described that way on the menu. My husband's pastichio was a huge portion and had a lot of flavor but was somewhat dry. It was served with no sauce. My Shrimp Santorini was served drenched in sauce, which I expected because the menu indicated it was served with pasta. It came to the bar and, voila, no pasta. I asked if I could get a Greek salad as a side and was told no, just a house salad. I couldn't quite understand why they couldn't take the house salad, add a bit of feta, a couple of olives, a pepperocini and some Greek dressing. I was willing to pay extra for it. The Yahni (Greek green beans) were perfectly prepared. So, overall, the restaurant was decent and, if anyone asked me if I recommended it, I would say yes. But it can't hold a candle to its former occupant, Omega. Omega offered totally authentic Greek food at a fair price. Demi's offers Greek American food for those who want their Greek food "dumbed down." The highlight of our visit was the service. The bartender couldn't have been more friendly, more attentive, or more helpful. Oh, and in case you missed it the first time, VERY nice...
Read moreWe live in the Bellevue neighborhood and have been to Demi's several times. Every time, the staff is friendly and courteous and the food is excellent. We've had one of the waitresses, Sarah, twice, and she is excellent.
There are a variety of options from meat to fish as well as vegetarian. I have also taken my parents there, who are sometimes picky, especially with Mediterranean food, and they love it. They also have quality food for kids (my daughter is 7) in the way of pasta w/ a meatball or chicken or chicken kabobs, as opposed to the classic kids menu chicken fingers, burgers, etc.
On the most recent visit, my father accidentally left his hearing aids wrapped in a tissue in my mom's purse. When she was taking out stuff in her purse, she must have left the wrapped up tissue on the table. My parents realized they were missing a couple hours later. I went over to Demi's and explained to them what might have happened, not sure if they even were left there. Two of the staff went to the back and in a matter of minutes, they produced the hearing aids. Fortunately, they were wrapped up in the linens, so instead of being potentially thrown out in the garbage, they were with the other linens and were found when the manager or one of the staff shook them out. I would have been willing to go through the garbage if need be and I'm sure they would have let me.
The food and service alone is enough to rank 5 stars but I'll give them an extra bonus of 6 for going the extra mile to take care of...
Read moreI came here for dinner after it was highly recommended to me. I’ve traveled the world and I’ve eaten the best foods, plus my mom is a retired chef, so I do know my foods very well.
From arrival, our server was the kindest. We started with calamari. Perfectly seasoned, fried to a perfect crisp. The calamari was very fresh and when you bit in to it, it just melted.
We then had our main course, pork Marsala and shrimp pasta…. I again, was so impressed with how well these were. The shrimp was not over cooked, again, to perfection and that Marsala, one of the best I’ve had on this side of the Atlantic!
Finally, since we were celebrating both my birthday and our anniversary, we decided on dessert. We chose their peach and chocolate desserts. The photos don’t give them any justice! This is where, I cried. I cried like a 7 year old little girl eating one of my mom’s desserts. It brought back so many memories of my beautiful childhood.
Suffice it to say, if your food makes you cry, you know that it must have been extraordinary, and this meal was it. It was everything! The service, the food and the chef coming to our table, was the perfect icing to our celebratory week.
I will add this as one of my top 5 restaurants I have been to in the entire world and...
