Apparently I gave this place too much credit because my best friend and I liked the food we ate from here a few months ago; so I thought this would be a nice place to have my birthday brunch...BOY WAS I WRONG!!! My family and I arrived at Eggspectation at 11:05AM this morning. When we got there, we were told it would be a 45 minute wait (this didn’t seem unusual for a Sunday morning so we waited around a bit). After waiting about 50 minutes we came back to the hostess area to check on the status of our table, and we were told that there were still 8 people in front of us and “people are just kinda camping out today and don’t really want to get up from their tables.” We decided to walk around the mall and wait around a bit more. Another 40 minutes pass by so at this point we have been waiting 1 HOUR and 30 MINUTES!! Again this was for my birthday brunch and I was really regretting choosing this restaurant. Unfortunately when we called a week ago to try to make reservations for this, we were told our party wasn’t large enough because there were only 3 of us. Long story short, at 12:30 I call and ask to speak with the manager about this experience and how long we have had to wait. When the manager gets to the phone and says “Hello”; I then begin expressing my concerns. As I’m talking to him; he is talking to his staff in the background about an order number (This is very disrespectful alone). When I’m speaking with a member of management and expressing a concern, I expect to have someone’s full attention! When I told him it was my birthday and how long we had been waiting. He just kinda blew me off and first of all didn’t even acknowledge the fact that it was my birthday or say “Happy Birthday” (like a normal human being would) or even apologize for the wait. All he had to say was “It’s COVID and we have limited seating and people are “ camping out today. We can’t just ask them to leave.” I then asked him if he could at least give us an estimate of how much longer it would be. He then said, “I really can’t right now because I’m at a window working on orders at the moment but we’re working on seating everyone as soon as possible so I’m sure we’ll get you seated soon”. Wow! What a waste of a manager call! I mean really? First of all you can’t even stop what you’re doing to listen to a customer’s concerns..I don’t know about you but that speaks volumes to me! We finally end up getting seated at 12:50 PM (after waiting 1 hour and 45 min total). I was the only person there that had a birthday so I know the manager knew that it was me that called and he never acknowledged us once! He never came to the table or said anything. I saw a table behind us was complaining about something so he spoke to them but didn’t see him speaking to any other tables either. I didn’t have any concerns with our waitress. She was friendly and one of the nicest people there. Our food took about 30 min or so to come out but it was really sweet that they gave me a waffle with some strawberries and whip cream for my bday treat. After the waitress brought the bday treat out, I realized we didn’t have any silverware after she had already walked away so I asked lady walking near the bar if we could have some silverware. She rolled her eyes at me and said “Give me a minute!” in a kind of rude tone. I didn’t get her name but she was more dressed up than other so I assume she was an assistant manager or another manager. I found out the manager’s name that I was speaking to on the phone was “Smitty”. He needs to be demoted from management for sure with that type of attitude and so does the lady that rolled her eyes at me. All the food we had was good and the drinks were good but overall they seemed a bit understaffed, overwhelmed, and had the worst management I think I’ve ever seen! I don’t think they’ll be around very long if they treat all their customers the way they treated me. I guess I was one person and didn’t really matter to them in the grand...

Read moreWe had dinner tonight as a double date. Our ticket was French onion soup, Old Bay wings, and the BBQ burger. The other ticket was the calamari bites, chicken and waffles, and the lamb chops. We will focus here on our ticket.
The French onion soup was a 1/10. The onions were sweated with several of them being burned, not caramelized. There was a lack of cheese and the broth tasted like simple beef broth. If the onions were caramelized, salt was added, and the broth was (pardon the pun) beefed up in the flavor profile, it would be much improved.
The Old Bay wings were a 4/10 for what I finally received. They initially came out without seasoning, and when mentioned the solution appeared to be a spray of Old Bay on one side of the wings (completed in 30 seconds). They were meaty wings and well cooked, but there was a large amount of cooking oil on the plate; another couple minutes of draining, or other oil removal methods (such as a towel) were needed. However, there was also supposed to be a "sweet and spicy mango chutney" that was on the menu, and was not supplied. If I'd realized it at the time instead of 4 hours later, I'd have asked for it. That reduces this to a 2/10, I did not receive what I payed for.
The BBQ burger was a 3/10. The onion rings and bun were good, but the tomato looked pink instead of red at best. My wife commented that Wal-Mart tomatoes looked better. The burger meat was bland, and slathered in sauce and grease. Salt was necessary.
In general the service was adequate. It should be noted that there is a mandatory 20% tip included. I believe our server was new, and a little flustered so I understand, but I had to request my water to be refilled twice out of two times.
All in all, for a bill that totaled a hair over $25 a head (with tip and no drinks) to need to request water refills, and missing items, I'd have to rate this visit as a miss. That said, I know this is a new location for this chain, and may visit to try it again. That said, the floor was sticky, like walking on glue traps. It looked clean, but the stickiness was off-putting to say the least. It may be worth it to find a new cleaning solution for the mop. (I hope it's the cleaning solution...
