So first off, the place is great. It's dog friendly, they even have a dog park and waterbowls throughout the center. There are many areas to sit down and relax with the kids, as well as phone and tablet charging stations. The facility is well maintained and gorgeously built.
However, there is nothing to do. We went there for breakfast and after spending 10 minutes walking around we left. There is a movie theatre but as far as the types of shops, they were all high end clothes shops. I'm pretty sure we saw 3 bridal boutiques and a store dedicated to children's bikes. There is a Dick's Sporting good place as well as a Lucky Brand store but nothing for the 13-28 demographic. Basically if you didn't have kids or a burning desire to go to Dillard's then it's just a pretty place to take a walk.
A Yankee Candle is opening up soon which I am looking forward to but I would sooner take the drive out to Short Pump than come back here. At least they have a larger variety of casual foods and places like lush. If you still find it lacking there is the plethora of shops outside the plaza you could go to. Much more lively and...
Read moreThis is a beautiful place to walk around. There are some strong highlights (Sur La Table, CineBistro, etc.) but the number of vacant stores has me worried about the health of the mall.
I think that they suffer from not knowing what they want to be. On the one hand, they have a number of upscale stores and decent restaurants that cater to adults. On the other hand, they have a playground and seem to encourage families with kids to visit, but there are few stores or restaurants that are truly kid-friendly. I think a clear idea of what the mall is supposed to be would go a long way in helping stores decide whether to open (or stay open) at Stony Point.
I very much enjoy the mall and would spend even more time there if they opened the road that connects the mall to the large neighborhood behind it. It's annoying to be within a mile of the mall yet have to drive all the way out to Huguenot, and then get on Chippenham just to end up less than a mile from where I started.
Overall, I hope that the nagging feeling that this mall will fail...
Read moreWent to PF Chang with a friend this afternoon and the waiter was so very nice she has allergic reactions to certain things and food and we went and told the manager. The manager looked up some stuff came out with a whole new different menu for her that she could get. It was such a long time since I had seen any humanity between anyone when it comes to a manager and the customer it just really really made me smile and she was so happy as well and we will just like wow this is something it was a true physical humanity something that was just so heartfelt it was just I had to share. I definitely love my waitress he did a wonderful job being that I also had to speak through my interpreter to order and it was just fantastic I loved it he was not mad he was not you know skates communicate with me because of that I'm not hearing but he did anyway and threw my my friend who is also an interpretive which is really great. I recommend this restaurant to anybody because my family and I will come here all the time for birthday parties or just...
