I don't like to complain, but . . . . My husband and I stopped at Granny's last Sunday. Now, we've eaten at Granny's at the Grass Lake Road location, their Johnsburg location and at the Richmond location, which is where we were on Sunday. Yes, it was busy, as Sundays usually are, but not to the point where all the tables were full and the chairs for those waiting for a table as it has been some of the Sundays we've been there. We placed our orders, two plates were brought to us. At first, I thought the extra crispy bacon ended up in my omelet instead of on the side as ordered. O.K. It's busy, mistakes are made. S&P added on top of the omelet. First bite off the end o.k. A couple bites into the omelet, not what I ordered at all :(. Waitress stopped by, I told her I did not get what I ordered. She said twice that she'd fix it and that there was so much food at the time she picked up our plates. I waited a bit. Nothing happened, so I ate my hash browns, which were now cold, and my English muffin. Never saw the waitress again until she quickly put the bill on the table. Bill included both of our meals as originally ordered. We still left a tip expecting that the bill would be fixed at the register. The waitress we had happened to be who ended up coming to the register. I told her I never received the extra crispy bacon and as she knew, did not receive the omelet I had ordered. She said she had offered to have it remade and that I said No. I told her that she did not make that offer and had just said she'd fix it. Then she said she did not have a manager key to fix the bill. All she could do was take off the bacon. And, that was all she took off. Now, why could she take the bacon off, but not the omelet? Really? When we got in the car, I sent a message to Granny's explaining the situation. To date, there's been no reply. Had there been a satisfactory reply, I would not have written this review. So, at this point, we won't be...
Read moreLet me preface this review by saying that the staff here is great and attentive and the food is wonderful. We've been here twice recently and have been pleasantly surprised with both of those things each time.
HOWEVER, this establishment will no longer get our business simply because of how the owner treats his staff. I genuinely hope every single staff member quits on him today, after what we overheard this morning getting breakfast. The owner was repeatedly yelling and cussing at his employees very loudly, and it's not the first time I've seen him treat his staff with utter disrespect. The first time we had gone, he made a few snide comments to a staff member near our table that we easily overheard since he clearly has issues keeping his temper and volume in check. I figured everyone has bad days, but after going today it's very clear this is a pattern. It is extremely uncomfortable to hear someone swearing and shouting at his staff while you're trying to enjoy your meal, and then to see your server trying their best to act like everything is fine. And, as someone who worked in the industry for years, for all kinds of people, it's obvious when there's an abusive manager/owner running the place, and unfortunately this is the case here. My advice? Go to therapy for your anger issues and treat your staff with respect or you will undoubtedly and deservingly close. I don't care how good the food and service is, we won't be supporting people who treat others this way. Always remember who is ACTUALLY making you money, because without them you would have zero success doing...
Read moreWe order here all the time. At least we did until today. My wife called in to make a take out order. In the middle of our order she was put on hold several times but she patiently waited. She successfully ordered three of our meals, but when she tried to order her two eggs combo the “2 eggs, skirt steak, potatoes and toast” listed at $11.95, she was informed it was $25. While she was still on the phone with the cashier, my wife could hear a man shouting across the restaurant that the menu posted was 8 years old. My wife then tried to change her order. She was put on hold again and the man who we know to be the owner picked up the phone and said “Listen, meat prices are through the roof because of covid. I’m not gonna honor a price from an outdated menu. We’re busy right now and you’re holding up the phone lines arguing about a price.” Then promptly hung up. To clarify my wife never argued about the price, she just wanted to change the item and in doing so inconvenienced the cashier. I called back to speak with the owner. I was told several times, by two different employees, who each wouldn’t stop talking long enough for me to get a sentence out, the owner was too busy and couldn’t get to the phone. He had all the time to get on with my wife and hang up on her though. We are never giving them business again. It is not hard to remove outdated items and my wife is not at fault for assuming the listed prices are correct. She was completely respectful and never raised her voice. All she did was try to change her order after learning the...
