I absolutely love Jeni's. Before they even had a store in my location, I used to have it shipped to me. Here's the thing, I live well over an hour from the nearest jeni's and all of their cool flavors makes me want to drive up there often to try them. Especially since they don't offer those flavors at Whole Foods. The ONLY thing that sucks or is lacking is that there is NOWHERE for customers to sit or relax while eating their ice cream. It's actually weird because literally every other business in carytown has outdoor seating, even the smaller businesses next door have a table or two. But not Jeni's, which makes no sense. You have nowhere you sit and enjoy your ice cream. After driving over an hour, I'd like to sit and enjoy my ice cream. But oh well.
The flavors are so fun tho. I have strawberry pretzel pie and watermelon taffy. I had originally come up there for the bubble gum, hoping that it reminded me of the nostalgic version of baskin robins, but it didn't.
I tried all of the new summer flavors and they were pretty good. Toasted s'mores is probably what I'll get next time. The marshmallows in root beer threw it off for me.
Love this place despite the lack of seating. The servers are always...
Read moreI recently visited Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams and it truly lived up to its name! The variety of unique and inventive flavors was impressive, making it difficult to choose just one (or two...or three).
I ultimately settled on a trio of scoops: Brown Butter Almond Brittle, Brambleberry Crisp, and Gooey Butter Cake. Each flavor was a symphony of taste and texture, with layers of complexity that kept me wanting more. The Brown Butter Almond Brittle had a rich, nutty base with crunchy bits of brittle that added a delightful surprise in every bite. The Brambleberry Crisp was a perfect balance of sweet and tart, with a generous swirl of berry jam and crumbles throughout. And the Gooey Butter Cake? It was pure indulgence, capturing the essence of the classic dessert in ice cream form.
Beyond the amazing flavors, the quality of the ice cream itself was exceptional. It was incredibly creamy, smooth, and made with fresh, high-quality ingredients. The staff was also incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, happy to offer recommendations...
Read moreI’ve been a loyal customer of Jeni’s Ice Cream in Kerrytown (Richmond, VA) ever since they opened, but unfortunately, that ends today. I’ve stopped by three times in the past two weeks, only to find a handwritten sign on the door citing “closed due to staffing issues” with a new opening time. The second time, there was actually a detective standing at the door, badge visible and gun in holster, not letting anyone in — which was incredibly unsettling and not something any customer should have to experience when simply trying to get ice cream.
As much as I’ve loved your product, your operations and customer care have gone significantly downhill. If you can’t consistently open your doors or communicate professionally, then you’re not respecting the community you serve. If staffing issues are this chronic, perhaps you shouldn’t be operating at all.
You’ve lost a longtime customer, and I’ll be returning to your competitor moving forward. Severely...
