Penzeys Spices — Local services in Richmond

I love love love Penzey's spices. I have been using them for years now. Some of my best recipes have come from a Penzey's catalog. These are the only spices I use. 4S seasoned salt is my go to. All of their spices are more potent and flavorful than the typical grocery store spices. I used to subscribe to the catalog but it seems to have been replaced by email newsletters which brings me to my only complaint. The emails often advertising a free spice or other promotion has become very political. Everyone is entitled to their views and I don't want my choice of food or spices to be associated with a political opinion. I prefer to cook good food, share it with love ones and have enjoyable light hearted conversations. I resolved this problem by unsubscribing to the emails. We love Penzey's. It smells amazing inside and the building has a very cool vibe. They have high quality spices, and some hard to find spices, both for savory and sweet applications, offer salt free varieties, and spice blends, like their seasoned salt, which contains sea salt. We have never been disappointed and in fact, we have been ordering from the Penzey's catalog, before they came to Richmond, since the 90's. They sell pretty gift boxes for the baker or griller in your life and their associates are very helpful. Penzey's have the freshest herbs and spices, hands down. Their blends are awesome, and I love being able to smell each product in store so I know what I'm getting. All products are available in multiple sizes, making it so much easier to not have to over buy spices for recipes that you may only use once or twice (I'm looking at you mace!).

Further to that too, I LOVE everything that Penzeys as a company stands for. I genuinely feel as though they are an ally in these trying times. Their Hope box literally brought tears to my eyes.
