Maldini's Ristorante Pizzeria — Restaurant in Richmond

Absolutely the worst experience I have ever had!!

So I was in the restaurant business, so I COMPLETELY understand that things happen and it's not always under your control. So I called to try to see if I could figure out what I could do because things were wrong and it was not enjoyable at all. When I called and asked to speak to a manager, an obviously angry person named Mike answered the phone with an indistinguishable statement; I guess the name of the restaurant no hello, no name, no nothing. I asked can I speak to a manager, please and got a "she's not here." answer. So I asked "Ok who do I talk to about a messed up order I just received. He said, "Oh, Did you order it through Grub Hub?" I was like yes then he said, "well I got to go to the computer, hold on." very matter factly. So I was like ok?? Then when he came back, he started reading off the order to me, and I confirmed that was my order. I had the distinct feeling that he has had a lot of problems with GH in the past because he DID NOT WANT to deal with me. So then he was like "so what's wrong?" I asked him does the Steak Sub basic come with onions? And he says yes. But if you look at the menu which is on GH it DOES NOT state that, and it EVEN gives you the option to add onions. So one would assume that they would not be on them. When I told him this, he was like well it's on here. LIKE I AM AN IDIOT! This was when I hung up.

The subs were horrible; the bread was soggy, the meat had NO FLAVOR to it at all. My wife DOES NOT LIKE onions so that would be why we ordered the basic so none would be on there. That's what the ONLY MENU I had access to MIKE, said. There were Very little meat and Very little toppings. The beard was very stale and old. And YES you can tell that I have been in the restaurant business 25 yrs, my wife over 30. The bread was very old and stale.

I Love Calamari especially Fried Rings. I eat them where ever I go. It typically does not have a heavy fishy smell to them, they do a little bit but when they smell heavy fishy bad, throw them out. Well, these had a very pungent smell of fish, bad, under-cooked and very poorly prepared. Yes I did try one and it almost made me throw up.

I ordered food for pick up on my way home at 628 pm. We picked it up and my chicken a la Limone came with a meat sauce!!! For $17.95 I expected it to taste amazing! I was so disappointed I called them and the girl told me that was traditional style, and it says it on the menu. I explained that wasn't how it was when I grew up and no it doesn't explain that online. She said I would get a new fresh meal delivered. When it got here it was tasteless hot pasta and no chicken I assume they expected me to microwave the chicken I paid 20$ for with the soup. I called back and spoke to the manager, ana. She said it would be taken care of and apologized and said it would be express, they had a ton of orders because of the rain. I said that I understood but I hope it wouldn't be to late I had to be back at work at 4 am and had called in advance for my order on my way hone from work , from 4am today. She said she understood she too was on a 14 hr day. Now its 9pm at night I still have no food and when I called to cancel she told me if "I had just come to pick it up, it would have been sooner , I feel as if that was a complete RUDE cop out! I then explained if the 2nd time I had gotten my order had been right then none of this would had happen. I didn't want the food any further because frankly I'll have terrible heart burn at this point! Again she took a deep breath an answered rudely that when he got here if I wanted to return everything I could! All I can say is being in the service industry the 2nd time we messed up, I would refund cheerfully and without hesitation AND still make it right by giving my customer the product they ORIGINALLY wanted without any issue, why, because we don't want to loose any customer and things like this don't get 2nd chances. Every $ and bad word of mouth counts you want people to want to come back and if you make it wrong DON'T be rude like it's the customers fault for being hungry after not eating all day and thinking a restaurant is going to be exactly what she needs!! The poor driver had no idea what was going on and he was nothing but kind, maybe they should switch...

My family has been coming to this restaurant for years for my daughter’s birthday but this year it was suppose to be the big 10 year party with streamers music, special balloons, etc. but COVID put a halt on that party. So we decided to go to Maldini’s because we have had most of her birthdays there she loves pizza and they have amazing food. You can’t have Pizza Hut for your birthday you need gourmet pizza. Well I must say I couldn’t have planned a better party. When you walk in there is a amazing Christmas diorama it is beautiful and you could tell it’s handmade and the time taken for it it was just Amazing so it set the mood for celebration. It wasn’t many people at the so we hung out a lot longer than we should have. We had a delicious Margarita pizza spaghetti carbonara to die for and all the bread we could possibly eat. At the end of the evening the owner put together a tiramisu birthday cake for our birthday girl it was so wonderful. Everyone was so kind everything was so much fun. To the kids it looked like I had put together an amazing party all we needed were streamers you would not have known that I did not arrange this. At the very end of the dinner there was a snowblower that blows bubbles it made the place look like a winter wonderland the owner obliged us even though it was closing time and played it for us. We ran through it, slid through it and picked up the bubbles. It was just so wonderful to be a part of this I cannot explain how full my heart was that they went out of their way to make her day so special. All I can say is everyone needs to go to Maldini’s for any reason the food is absolutely delicious the people are absolutely wonderful this is the kind of restaurant that you see when you watch Hallmark during Christmas. such a wonderful family that owns it there is the feeling of family all over. You have to go to Maldini’s and buy your Italian dinner, get some Italian snacks (there is a market) get some Italian wine because it’s all Italian and it’s all family.
