Let me start off by saying that Michaela's Quality Bakeshop is no longer owned and operated by the original owner, and the original staff has all been let go. That is the first, second, third through one hundred mistakes to begin with. Now, here comes my problem. On Wednesday, February 1, 2023, I went into Michaela's and put in my yearly birthday cake order. The counter lady asked when and at what time did I want to pick up my cake, I must say that she was as helpful as she could be given that she wasn't really aware of the different styles of cakes. I told her that I wanted to pick up my cake on Friday, February 3, 2023, at 3 pm. She said fine and not a problem. I arrived on Friday at 1:45 pm thinking that my cake would be ready because the counter lady told me that if I came by a little earlier than it would be ready. Well, what do you know? It wasn't ready, and the counter man who was there acted as if I had offended him by coming to get my cake that had been paid for in full. How about he told me that it wasn't ready and that I needed to come back....really? At that moment, this bakery had lost one of their faithful customers. Read moreAfter moving to Richmond, I was thrilled to find a local bakery in my neighborhood! On my first visit, I purchased sampler of several different small baked goods. The cakes, pies, cookies were are all fresh, moist, and well-executed. I was pleased and vowed to return. Each subsequent visit has been just as consistent and just as tasty. I've eaten desserts all over the world, from Michelin Star restaurants down to hole-in-the-joints I won't admit to visiting. Of all the places I can remember, Michaela's has the absolute best plain cheesecake. It is silky, light, and has the perfect level of sweetness. You can buy it by the slice or whole, either way you will come back for more. I've gone for cheesecake so much they recognize me now. If you like desserts, you owe yourself a visit to this fine...

Decided to stop at this local neighborhood business for the first time to support a local entrepreneur.
The selection was great, and the server was very helpful.
It was a great retail experience until I asked for plastic forks to take with me to the picnic. The forks were prominently displayed.
The server gladly handed them to me, until the owner protested and insisted I did not need forks for the cupcakes, but only the slices of cake.
After spending almost $40 on desserts, I was made to feel bad for requesting $.32 worth of plastic so that my friends could eat their cupcakes without getting icing all over their face.
This is not a good recipe for repeat customers.
While the cake and cupcakes were lovely, a retail experience has to leave everyone feeling good. Certainly not the result...
