They recently catered a large event for me - where I had to accommodate vegans, paleos, omnivores, foodies, gluten-free, corn-allergy, AND conservative eaters who don’t stray from meat and potatoes. The owner Michelle is awesome - super nice/friendly/easy to work with. The food came on time and was set up beautifully, but, most importantly, everyone was super happy - the food was absolutely delicious, and everyone who complimented was THRILLED to know about the store front in Church Hill - where the menu changes weekly and there is lots of grab & go food. There were plenty of leftovers - and enough of the ham salad & pimento cheese leftovers for late night guests to eat a second round. I cannot recommend Soul N Vinegar enough - I would absolutely use their catering again and will continue to stop by for grab&go from their super cute storefront. Just to shout out a few things - you cannot go wrong with the ham salad, pimento cheese, or vegan dirty rice.... but, yes, everything I have tried has been AMAZING! Seriously - please check them out mad if you're looking for a caterer, give...
Read moreY'know, as a vegan, I like to think I usually know the good spots for vegan food. But here I am, living on the block over from this place, driving past it every day, and I had no idea what this place was about.
I think what kept me away initially was the fact that the storefront looks so clean and well-maintained. Being used to spots like cobra cabana, Harrison street, 821, I guess I judged this place by its cover and assumed it was some high-end fast casual spot primarily designed for the people living in all the fancy new houses that keep appearing in this part of town. But what I found was actually pretty reasonably priced food, and a comfortable dining room. Friendly staff, well-maintained kitchen space. Honestly, I am surprised I don't see this place busy pretty much ever, but I have to assume it's because the vegan folks haven't gotten the word around.
Definitely worth a try, I'll be back to try some other vegan options.
Don't judge a food spot by its...
Read moreI'm always excited with a new restaurant opening within walking distance. I'd been curious about the concept since it was announced last year, and went to stop by on opening day to check it out. On the first trip, I picked up a falafel bowl, golden curry w/rice, their Bangin' Pimento Cheese, and a Nutella strawberry shortcake bar, all for less than $30. Everything was delicious. We housed the container of Pimento Cheese in days. Went back today to get dinner for tonight and lunch tomorrow. Pictures are of the gluten free/vegan quinoa falafel bowl, and roasted sweet corn and cous cous salad. Also had the Greens, Beans, and cornbread. Lunch tomorrow will be the BBQ chicken, collards, and cornbread for me, and the Taco chopped salad for my partner (which I really wanted for myself, but maybe next time!). Again, these 5 items were only $30! I'm really grateful for their presence in the neighborhood and look forward to all of our...
