How have I not already written a review for Spotty Dog?!?!?! I love this place so much!

Customer Service: The owners and the staff are all lovely people who genuinely care about the product they're selling and the customers' experiences. I have been to Spotty Dog many times over the past year and some change (happy belated birthday!!!) and have never been disappointed by the service.

Product: Spotty Dog's ice cream stands out among the Richmond ice cream scene; you'd be hard-pressed to find anything quite like it. The New England style ice cream promises a similar dense and creamy texture to gelato. Their selection of ice creams is rather varied from more "traditional" flavors (Malted Madagascar Vanilla, Cookies and Cream), to incredibly creative flavors (Miso PBJ, "Movie Night" that featured caramel swirls and whole pieces of popcorn). Their milkshakes are spectacular and their sundaes are decadent. Any time their menu features an ice-cream version of a popular desert (like Key Lime Pie), you'd be shocked at how similar the flavors are to the real thing.

Atmosphere: Play list? Top notch; I'm always boppin. Cleanliness never disappoints. There's a walk up window for four-legged customers lookin for a pup cup. Best ice cream I've EVER had (and not an exaggeration.) The cream itself is smooth, richly textured, and highly delicious. It's clear that all the incredible mix-ins (such as chocolate chip cookies, brownies, and cakes) are all made fresh, in-house, and with tons of love. They offer a mix of classic flavors, and also fun/seasonal varieties that I've never seen been done anywhere else (Carrot Cake, Movie Night, etc.) The staff are super engaged and friendly, encouraging customers to try as many flavors as they'd like. They also take careful consideration to offer gluten and dairy free options. I went into Spotty Dog with the highest expectations and it exceeded them. First of all, the ice cream is phenomenal. The flavor, texture, and creaminess are spot on. There are many inventive flavors that are surprisingly delightful (e.g. movie night). The old school atmosphere is welcoming and the worker we had the pleasure of meeting (Helen) could not have been more kind, engaging, and helpful. I was so pleased that price point was very fair compared to other speciality ice cream shops and the scoops are so generous! You can tell there is a lot of passion, soul, and expertise poured into this place; I hope that their business flourishes.
