The food is decent, but the service is non-existent. Spice level is incredibly inconsistent - even on the same day between dishes. I’ve visited several times in the last and liked the food enough to come back despite mediocre at best service as there’s no other Thai food nearby, but today will be the last time. My table of 2 waited for 40 minutes with no service except for when we flagged the waitress down to order. The restaurant only had two other tables of customers - one of two people and one of three people. When we asked about the status of our food, the waitress went to check and informed us that the kitchen hadn’t even started cooking our order. When asked to cancel our order as she said it would be another 20 minutes, she changed her story to saying that the kitchen had already started cooking and asked if we were really going to be those people who cancel after food is already cooking in the kitchen. There was no apology, no communication, just a lack of any structure in the kitchen to get food out in a reasonable amount of time. Note to management: passive aggressiveness & lying to your customers can’t keep me coming back even if the food is tasty (although more expensive than other Thai restaurants in the metro area). Before today, I’d never left a restaurant because of quality of service (or lack thereof), but unfortunately Jutamas...
Read moreI’ve never posted a five-star review of any restaurant in Jackson before and in truth, while Jutamas isn’t perfect, it’s pretty darned close. If you like authentic Thai food, wonderful service, and a pleasant environment, you need to visit Jutamas.
I’ve eaten there several times. The first time, I put them to the test. Pad Thai is my litmus. They passed with flying colors. More recently, I had Siam Chicken. It’s no exaggeration to say there wasn’t a morsel left.
The chef, Dean (perhaps not the correct spelling) spent time with us at the table to make sure we were taken care of and our server, Beth, was a true delight. Her smile warm us on a cold night just as well as the authentic Thai spices.
If you’ve never tried Thai food before but you consider yourself a “foodie” or at least open to new dining experiences, you owe it to yourself to try Jutamas. Your eyes will be opened and you, too, will be telling your friends about it.
I think Jutamas is one of the best restaurants in the Jackson area - certainly the best Thai or Asian by a wide margin. I’ve waited 30 years for a good Thai restaurant in Jackson, and I wish them a long and...
Read moreI don't know if they put zero effort into their to-go/Uber Eats orders, but this is the worst Thai food I've ever had. First, my phad thai was supposed to be without eggs, and it was full of them. I have an egg intolerance and unfortunately I didn't realize it until a couple of bites in. Additionally, the phad thai had a very odd smell and flavor, and was very greasy and almost tasted old. I got sick from eating this. The red curry was a huge disappointment. The rice was clearly old. The curry sauce was watery and barely any flavor. They use cheap vegetables and just toss huge chunks in. Overall, this is not worth the hype or the price. I decided to give this place a try since my typical Thai restaurant by my house (Krua Thai) was closed, but unfortunately I regret that decision. Will not be spending my...
