We are a Greek family, and our daughter chose to celebrate her Nameday with the family at this restaurant because she liked their fries. This was our second visit, the first had been pretty good. Itâs a place with an industrial-fast-trendy food vibe dĂ©cor â think Chipotle or such with touristy pictures of Greece & Evil Eye Charms for decoration. No servers. No sign that says âPlease wait to be seated.â VERY crowded. Inadequate parking. Thereâs a LONG line to get to the counter â and because of a physical disability, Iâm unable to stand in line. So, I got us a table and sat at it. When my husband and daughter were to the front of the line, and ordering â a female employee came to me and said âYou have to move. We sat someone at this table.â And walked off before I could say anything. Then she and other employees glared at me from the cash register. Then a male employee came to me and told me the same thing. I told him â repeatedly â that I cannot stand. He insisted that I had to & claimed they would assign me a table only AFTER we paid. I asked where I could sit and wait for my table â he gestured to a chair at a wall-facing counter. I went and sat there. Of course, by then, my husband and daughter had ordered and were looking for me. I called to them. Then they went to get drinks, and an employee came and asked if the Calamari was ours, as I didnât know what the family had ordered. I told her I didnât know (even though their table assignment system should have told them where to bring our food). I asked her about the table we had been told we would be assigned. âSorry, there arenât any.â And walked off. We had no table to sit at, and were unable to look at each other or comfortably share food because of the cramped spot at the counter. My fries (we didnât order them, but had to pay for them) were burnt. My veggie Gyro was a lot of iceberg lettuce with extremely excessive raw onion but barely perceptible olives and tomato. I can still taste onion several hours after the meal. I understand the Calamari was pretty good for the U.S. The Tzatziki was unrecognizable because of the excessive oil on top. And the âKrilakisâ Gyro was pretty good, according to my daughter. So, yeah, probably wonât go back. Hospitality is essential to authentic Greek dining. This place left a bad taste in my mouth - literally and...
Read moreKrilakis is my all-time favorite restaurant in the metro. Authentic Greek food in a clean, cozy, casual atmosphere. I love the outdoor seating and fountain area when the weather is nice. Itâs covered, so the weather doesnât even have to be perfect to sit outside, just warm. The service is always great because the staff is friendly and efficient. THE FOOD is consistently always excellent! The chicken, lamb, and beef are all cooked and seasoned to perfection! Iâve had them all at one time or another. My favorite is the chicken because itâs delicious, seasoned cubes of real chicken breast and the flavor is just totally infused into it. YUM! The hand-cut fries are my absolute favorite fries from anywhere! It just doesnât get any better. There arenât enough great things to say about the soft, warm pita bread that has just a perfect little crisp to the grilled part! I donât eat tziki (sp) sauce myself, but my family would eat a bucket of it from Krilakis because the cucumber and yogurt flavor is so fresh and delicious! The hummus is seriously the best, most authentic Mediterranean hummus that Iâve ever had and itâs so easy to get addicted to it with the perfectly cooked pita wedges! Also excellent stuffed grape leaves, salads, andâŠolives, olives, olives. I love olives! We go for almost every birthday, anniversary, etc., and when we have guests. We go just to get lunch or dinner quite often when we can get up to Ridgeland. Always 5 stars. I most highly...
Read moreThe location of Krilakis is in a super cute "strip" with a pretty brick facade. There's seating inside & outside. You walk up to the counter to order then choose your seats. We got there around 8pm and devoured everything & left within 30-40min! We ordered the hummus and 2 gyro plate specials (mixed meat + the French fry option) with sweet tea drinks. First, the hummus was AMAZING. I'm not usually a hummus person, so it takes a special one to make me want to lick it off the plate! Absolutely phenomenal! The little pita-like breads to scoop up the hummus were perfectly crispy yet soft. The mixed gyro plates came out right as we finished the hummus. At first glance, they looked like burritos wrapped in foil. Once you open the foil, it actually looks like a taco, but with Greek bread & filling. Just phenomenal again. The lamb & chicken combo was yummy, but I'd probably go for only lamb next time. The tzaziki sauce is a must, people. It's perfectly refreshing on the gyro and the best substitute for ketchup for their homemade fries which were awesome and had nice salt "flakes" sprinkled on top. We would totally recommend Krilakis if you're in the...
