HORRIBLE SERVICE. NEVER EAT THERE AGAIN. WISH I COULD SCORE LESS THAN 1 STAR!
I had a taste for chicken-on-a-stick, so my husband and I decided to go to the Penn's Fish House at the corner of I-55 frontage and Beasley road only to discover it was permanently closed. We then decided to go to the Penn's on Lake Harbor drive in Ridgeland. When we arrived, there were a few cars at the drive through window, so we decided to go inside. There was a family of six people sitting at one of the tables interacting with the restaurant personnel, so we assumed they were either finished eating or just visiting. We placed our order (chicken-on-a-stick and a catfish dinner with coleslaw and turnip greens) and began what we didn't realize would become a 45-minute wait.
The restaurant personnel appeared to be focused on getting the drive through patrons serviced. I guess they figured the patrons inside were a captive audience. Two other sets of customers arrived during our time there. One woman and a group of three consisting of a woman and two men. They arrived about 10 minutes after we arrived and placed their orders. Our attention was drawn once again to the drive through window and how efficiently the orders were being taken and processed. We saw several catfish dinners and chicken-on-a-sticks being handed out the window.
Surprisingly one of the workers called the family that was there when we arrived and told them that their order was ready (this was about 30 minutes into our wait). We didn't realize that they too had been waiting on orders. My husband saw one of the workers retrieve something from the refrigerator then go over to the get a container of turnip greens so he said this must be our order coming up. The worker took the container of greens to the back of the restaurant for about a minute then appeared to be pouring it into another container. Forgot to mention that the female worker and male worker in the front both had long dreds which they constantly pulled from their faces while preparing plates. About 10 minutes later they notified the woman and the group of three that had come in after us that their orders were ready. By this time, I was livid. I whispered to my husband that I was going to get my money back.
I got to the counter and told the female worker that I would like to get my money back. She then began explaining that it was taking a while because they cook the chicken-on-a-stick at the time the order is placed. I commented to her that I had seen several plates with chicken-on-a-stick prepared and that there was currently freshly cooked fish and chicken-on-a-sticks in the window. She gave me my money back and we left the restaurant. On the way to the car my husband asked if I counted the money to make sure it was correct. Upon checking, I noticed that she had given me $12.26 instead of $17.26 so I returned to the front counter. When I told her that she had shorted me $5 she stated "My Bad" nonchalantly.
We were disappointed when the main Penn's restaurant on Lakeland drive closed. If business continues to be handled like this at the remaining satellite restaurants, I don't see much hope...
Read moreI've called twice today to try and place an order for pickup at the LakeHarbor location. I was put immediately "put on hold" which consisted of the receiver being left off the hook and with me able to hear everything going on by the way. I was on hold for over ten minutes when I finally hung up the. I decided to try back an hour later hoping the location would be less busy as the one nearest to me had run out of fish for the day.
I was finally able to reach the store and was placed "on hold" again. Seven minutes later and no service. I've wasted 17 minutes on hold for food I was never able to order. I called back but was unable to reach the store as the receiver was left off the hook. I gave up. I would say I'd never go back, but I was never able to order food in the first place. I would not recommend anyone else try to order over the...
Read moreHere at Penns we try our best to make our customers happy, we do not redrop good as some people may think in some earlier reviews. We have been experiencing problems with our drive thru and we don’t hear customers drive on it sometimes so if you’ll had to sit at the drive thru longer than expected without your order being taken we do apologize for that. We do get very busy at times and we try our best to get your food out to you as fast as possible even though we are NOT a fast food place, don’t let the drive thru distract you for that! Once again we apologize for any bad experiences you might’ve had at Penns we don’t want you to see us as that representation. Because we are not a fast food place all of our appiteizers are cooked fresh which may take longer depending on...
